Default New Sub box today

So I was bored today, and decided to ditch the old sub box that sat inside the spare, and build a new one that sits flush with the floor. I lose the spare over it, but I'll survive.
I didn't want to use a conventional speaker grille, so I decided to try out some 1/4" stainless rods to protect the sub. I may decide to change it to a slotted piece of 1/2" lexan with led's underneath.

Ran out of carpet on the last peice, so I guess I'll have something to do tomorrow! lol

I like your setup. My sub is installed somewhat like yours. I wish I thought about using steel rods the way you did.

Yeah, those stainless steel rods look nice. I considered doing something like that when building my kickpanels, but eventually just went with the normal grilles.

So I never really settled into the carpet in the new trunk design, so I decided to make another change. Removed carpet, and laminated with a textured formica, satin black. Not sure exactly what I will do with the sub as far as a grill goes, still kicking around the stainless rods, or the 1/2" acrylic. I sent for a quote to get a piece of acrylic laser cut in the shape of the Z logo, which I think would look pretty awesome.
Open to any suggestions you guys may have as well.

frosted plexi grill 001.JPG So I got a quote for a laser cut frosted plexi grill for $225..... A little too high for me, so I got my own piece. 4 hours with the trim router, and a little media blast, and viola! Plexi cost me $45
