However if you are going through all that trouble to put dynamat, fat mat, raw mat, or any other kind of sound dampening material in your doors. I would upgrade the speakers while I am there. I hate removing panels multiple times.

I have removed the door panels several times to the point where I can remove them/reinstall them in less than 1/2 hour! I installed the sould deadening prior to upgrading my speakers. I notice an little improvement to the door speaker sound (i.e. louder mid-bass). My experience is that sound deadening material is a must when upgrading the door speakers.

Tip: While your at it, I found adding Dynamat or equivalent to the back side of the door panels along with sound deadening on the inside of the door (i.e. back side of the outside door skin) behind the door speakers helps to improve the speaker's sound.
