Default satellite radio

Hey guys,
I currently have the Pioneer Avic130bt and I would like to add satellite radio, here are my questions:
Does it need a separate antenna? If so where in the car do you install it?
Also where is the cheapest place to buy the module? or does a forum vendor carries them?
Thanks.

Yes I have the same radio and it needs an antenna. You can buy the whole kit from various vendors. I used crutchfield. I placed the antenna on the same small metal plate with the gps antenna. The plate is on the dash on the passenger side.

The SATs do need a separate antenna. XM versus Sirius also have separate units. The antenna can be placed inside the car on the passenger side of the dash. Works fine in-spite of conventional wisdom that states it must be placed on an outside metal surface plane to increase reception.

+1...... With any radio to my knowledge, you will have to buy the antenna. I had to with my Kenwood DNX9990HD radio.

The small metal plate acts as a ground plane, but its small and I do get drop-outs of the satellite signal when driving under trees. The XM antenna would function better with a larger ground plane. So yes, being mounted on the outside of the car on the roof you will get better reception.

On Balance, you do get more drops when passing under a tree, but it is not terrible. I also get those drops (not as often) with the BMW "Shark Fin" antenna on the roof.

He is talking about the second antenna for a Sirius receiver.
