Default Climate control not working after head unit install

Wasn't sure where to start this thread. Guess since it has to do with my recent stereo upgrade I'll start here. Just now getting decent enough out to where I want to drive my Z. This past winter i did a medium priced stereo upgrade. New Polk speakers, JL Audio power amp, along with a new JVC head unit. Well all is fine and dandy except I'm not getting any fan or climate controls. Funny thing is, the back lighting works.
Also, all steering wheel controls work perfectly along with pretty much everything else. Am getting a "check engine soon" light, but manual says that will probably go off once the car is driven some.
Just came back in from pulling center dash area apart to make sure I hadn't left anything unplugged. Also checked fuses with none looking liker they're blown.
Everything looks perfect.. Any ideas?
Would dearly love to have all working well..
Pat

Just a suggestion, you might want to keep all of your info in one thread. Multiple threads about the same subject are pretty confusing.

Put the white box back in and plug it in. You need it for your climate controls.
