Default A few install pics of a work in progress

Currently installing in my 2011 370z Soundstream amp is out for paintwork, but my spare amp is done and ready to go.
Sub box is stainless steel and mdf coated in fiberglass, painted to match cars exterior, mounts down into spare tire well. Soundstream stealth 13 sub.
Door speakers get Polk MM 6501 woofers, but Infinity Kappa 10.9t tweeters (they sounded much better in MY ears)
Tweeters are run off a RE audio xtx500.5 that is mounted under amp board, (gotta have room to expand later) Main amp is a Soundstream ref 4.920 drives the Polks and the SS Sub.
Backup amp is the one in the pics, an old school MB Quart RA2400.

Did I forget to mention the head unit??? Pioneer Stage 4 DEX P99rs runs the show....active crossover network, and full 1/3 octave eqs for left and right channels. Auto time alignment, and equalization. This machine is awesome, and worth every penny.

I will post more when I finish painting the SS amp, and have it all finished...

Good stuff, just wondering, why not run the tweeters at level hearing height? On axis? You would get much more quality and response from the tweeters that way.

You going to upgrade to better speakers later down the road? You would be able to run the crossover frequency much lower with a better tweeter.

PM me if you would like some SQ speaker suggestions. Other than those questions good job.

Be carful hooking them back up. Make sure your battery is disconnected when you plug them in or you could blow your pico fuse.

Appreciate the input. I do intend to upgrade the speakers to the stage 4 components in the near future. Not to be a ****, but for someone who highly recommends the polk db's to ask if I intend to upgrade from the mm's strikes me as odd. Just sayin'...The tweeters are very much on axis at thier present location. Soundstage is very high on the windshield, and widespread left to right. Considered a center channel until I gave it a good listen.
I have been installing for 25+years, and have had much success on the competition circuit with all of my vehicles, but the 370 install by far is the best sounding system I have ever put together.
The MB Quart amp shown in my post was one of the amps I had In a 1999 Chrysler Sebring that I Took to the 2005 Slapshow Nationals in Hagerstown, Md and Did a 2nd place finish (missed by 1 point) Great SQ amp.....I have a twin for sale if anyone is interested.......

Ah, I only recommend those to people who do not intend on doing serious SQ setups. I would get your final speaker locations and speakers setup before considering a center, a lot of the new time alighnment helps create a virtual center in some aspects.

The db's are good for running off a head unit and the mm's are a good mid range component set for the average consumer. To people that get serious I recommend other brands such as, morel, rainbow, audison "amps", zapco "amps", image dynamics, focal and so on. So in no way your being a jerk I just know what people's budget is and what they want from the system. I personally am going with a 3 way setup active with the MS8 in my altima. Can not wait to work on that. I also know that a 2 way setup can sound just as good as a 3 way if done properly.

Also I did two installs with the stage 4 components in 2 way active mode and passive, I did not care for their tone but you may find different.

What did you find lacking in the stage 4 comps??? curious because I have yet to hear them.
I have a set of DLS Iridium 8.3's from an old install that I am sad to say I just cant squeeze the 8's into the doors without some major work.
I'm in the unfortunate situation that there are no high end shops local to me, so auditioning a good quality set of components has to come at shows that I attend. I was lucky enough to be asked to do SQ judging at a local show when one of the judges didn't show, which is where I heard the DLS set.
I Bought them the next day.

It was either too much mid or the tweeters being a tad to bright for my liking, even after toning them down with some tuning. HOWEVER I only was able to tune the system for 10 minutes and he is coming back next month so we can do a real tuning on the system. So that may help things out. I think for the price a set of hertz miles or id cxs would suffice more. I prefer the tweeters of the id's as they have a more natural tone more so like my martin logans at home.
