Default Full sound system help!

So I have around $500 to $600 to blow on a sound system for my z. I have the base sport package so I have the crappy stock speakers. I want to add speakers and add a sub plus amp! What would you guys recommend getting and are there any special offers or combos I would be able to get? Also what type of wires and harnesses should I use to hookup the system? Thanks to anyone that comments!

OK, out of literally thousands of combinations, heres a start for you staying in your price range......
Audio Control LC6i 6 channel line out converter $115
CTX65CX Image Dynamics 6.5" 100 watt component set $160
BT8014 8" Bazooka Tube 150 watt Subwoofer $120
MRPF300 Alpine VPower 300 watt 4 channel amp (2 channels to components, 2 channels bridged to sub) $150
4 Gauge amp wiring kit Approx $50

That being said, It has been my experience that most people who want to upgrade because their factory system "isnt good enough" will start out purchasing inexpensive gear (inexpensive, NOT inferior), and shortly after will want to upgrade again, and again, and again. They end up spending thousands working their way up the ladder, and end up spending much more than they would have if they just jumped all in right from the get-go. Eventually, you end up with an awesome system, a shelf full of used stereo equipment, and an empty wallet.
If you feel like you may be one of those people, take some time, and do some research, learn all you can about car audio products, visit a local car stereo competition, and demo some vehicles. There are alot of us that are more than happy to demo for curious people. Most importantly, save up some more cash, and chose the components that are right for you, and your tastes.
Good luck in your quest!!

While I agree with Ron I also disagree, OP if you are the kind of person that is looking for a great sound system 500 is not going to cut it. The normal upgrade pattern is

Head unit > Speakers > Amp for speakers > Sub and amp

I like to do things ONCE, door panels are not made to be taken on and off a million times, that is how rattles begin.

If your looking for just something better than stock, you might be able to stay in that budget for a good set of speakers and a amp, however adding a good sub will take some more cash. Save your money and get better if you can.

My recommendation for a budget.

Polk DB 6.5 component speakers ID CX if your going to amp them
RF Punch stage 2 10 sub
Kicker 10ZX400.1 OR RF P500-1BD

For power wire I usually recommend kicker however Knu Konceptz is quality becoming my new favorite.

Good luck, Kid. $1,500 min. if you want "ok" clarity. Great sound costs $$$. I would suggest saving up for what you really want. Don't halfa$$ the sound. As far as the headunit... the system will only sound as good as the headunit will let it. Garbage in, garbage out. Don't skimp on the receiver/headunit. That will be the heart and soul of the system, plus you have to look at and interact with this thing. Better get something worth it. Just my Save up and do it right.

The regular update routine is
Head device , Audio system , Amp , speakers , Sub and amp
I like to do factors ONCE, entrance sections are not created to be taken on and off a thousand periods, that is how rattles start.
If your looking for just something better than inventory, you might be able to remain in that funds for a excellent set of speakers and a amp, however including a excellent sub will take some more cash. Preserve your cash and get better if you can.
I have set up lately Kicker sub into my drive and the sound is basically Just amazing.

I like the Kicker amp, But not so much the speakers. I put these components in my G/F's Malibu last year, and promptly removed them and sold them. They dont do well with bass frequencies.
They are rated at 150watts rms, I was feeding them 40 and they were hurting.

For an amp for just the sub you can run a kicker, rockford fosgate, or even hifonics. However if you want to run everything off one amp I recommend looking at the alpine pdx5 or the newer V9
