Not really, modern turbo technology has changed where it is not needed.
Only time you should let the system idle before you shut it off is if you were hooning the car and then wanted to turn it off 30 seconds later. Then I would say wait a minute, but even then it is not going to destroy anything.

FYI there is a user that installed some sort of navi system (garmin I think) that actually had a remote brain and a seperate screen which was controllable by either the touch screen or a remote or something. I think that is the closest you're going to get to the OEM nav setup.
