Radar Detector Hardwire?

How do you hardwire into a 370Z? Can the warnings come through the NAV system like on the 'vette?

I bought one of those deals for my 'vette, just never used it. I ratholed it away though thinking I might buy another car and use it. Is it as straight-forward as the 'vette? Find the correct pins and slide it in piggybacking the wire?

How do you get the wire there? Run it under headliner, down A-pillar, and to the fuze box?

I am familiar with the mirror tap, but I never used it. It seems like a good idea, though. Is there a reason why I would go to the trouble to tap this fuze? In the 'vette, all my radar warnings come through my HUD displace, any option for something like this on the 370Z using the DIC message center or something?

I had the wire tap on my last car and I didn't want to cut, tap, solder, and heat shrink wires, so I went with the tap a fuse.

It's actually more simple. You unplug one of the fuse and plug in the tap a fuse. Then add two fuses. In this instance, it is easier to change fuses and undo the wiring.

Yeah just stuff the wire in the headliner, the a pillar will pop off, pull on the weather stripping and that will go down to the fuse box right by the dead pedal.

My 'vette is the same way, I know what you mean.

I didn't know you needed to cut/solder/etc. to tap into the mirror? In my 'vette, you just plug it in piggybacking on top of the existing wires in the mirror plug.

Do you have a link to the product that you used for your fuse install?

but import's question is asking how to wire it up to show the warnings through the nav screen?

on my Z i just wired up my V1's power module to the fuse, mounted the module below the steering column (in b-surface so i dont hit it with my knee or something) and using the coil from the bottom of the steering column to above the cluster.

I was wondering if anyone made an interface with the cars OBDII port like on the 'vette. I really think that is what I will miss most, is getting all my radar info through my HUD and information center. I will probably run some 10% tint across the V1's face to cut down on glare/light and just mount it by the mirror with the bendawire thing I have. IT's wrapped in OEM "mesh" and has an in-line fuse.

Usually your radar/laser detector will come with both a cigarette lighter power plug and a direct 12V fused wire kit. For my V1 and OnStar mirror I tucked the 12v & GND wire up in the head liner by lowering it with a plastic pry tool. Then behind the curtain airbag and then to the 12V ignition on 10A fuse by clutch. Install time for the V1 and mirror took about 2 hours.
