Default Bose w/nav

I have searched the site trying to find the Impedance of the Bose speakers used on the 370. I have the speakers out of the door and there is no listing on the speakers other than a bunch of Bose numbers that appear to be meaningless. Does anyone know the actual the actual ohm rating on the stock Bose speakers? Can they be replaced with Alpine 4 ohm speakers without damaging the Bose unit? I am sure the information is out there somewhere but I had no success with any of my search terms on the site or Google. Thanks for any help you could offer!

bose speakers are compatible with the bose amp, to replace speakers you need to redo wiring and put in another amp to run different speakers.

you end up replacing the system, you can however change your head unit, just none of the other components unless you plan on doing a over haul.

Correct this has been asked many time or more plainly asked "can i replace bose speakers with new speakers without changing anything else" No you can not.

Check out this thread or search for others.

Stock Bose/Nav+new sub/amp

You are only going to be able to run new speakers if you run them threw a new head unit or new amp threw a re-q5. The stock speakers are "i think" 8 ohms speakers 5 ohms or 4 ohms woofers. Plus your not going to have a full signal output from your bose amp to go to the new crossover it has dedicated tweeter outs and woofer outs.

Default Bose impedance

I tested the speakers with a meter today and none is over 2.4 ohms. I also keep reading about woofers and tweeters on the forum but all of my Bose speakers are paper cone one way cheap speakers, including the small ones in the corners of the dash. My z is a roadster with eight speakers. Is the Bose system in a coupe different.

They count tweeters, woofers and subs. So two in the dash two in the door two in the rear and two small subs. No matter what system you have there mostly all paper junk. I would no matter what the ohms is still not run new speakers off a bose amp. Like I said they all have their own signal coming out of the amp and also I almost forgot. bose systems omit freq as the volume goes up. Its their sound processor that does this.

Thanks for the info. I guess I dont understand Bose and all their mystical top secret crap. I know the system is poor and if I were a stereo manufacturer that was supposed to be on the cutting edge of technology I would have not put my name on it. High and mid-range are marginal and the base is nonexsistant. After testing the ohms this morning I decided to take a run at an expensive improvement. I removed the dash speakers and replaced them with MB Quart oak-30 tweeters with crossovers and replaced the door speakers with onx169 6x9's. Both are 4 amp and the door speakers are 60w rms so I still get good volume. It is not ready for any West Coast Customs audio throw down but it sounds 100% better than the paper speakers. The tweeters are clear and crisp and the mid range sounds great. I could still use a little more base but it is ok for the $200 I have invested. I figured the worst that could happen is to ruin the Bose unit and have to replace it, which would have to be done anyway to get a decent sound. I will keep you posted if anything negative happens but for now I am happy. I might put a sub in the spare tire hole and a small amp to power it in the trunk later on down the road if this works out without any problems. I went to the Bose site last night and it was useless. All it said was that they do not rate any of their stuff and let the sound stand on it's own merit.
