Default Which Nav Unit

Hello again,
Does anyone have any opinions on, or knowledge about how the various aftermarket in-dash nav units stack up against each other? I'm leaning towards one of the Kenwood units but there are some good deals on last years Pioneer and Eclipse units.

I like the Kenwood mostly because it uses Garmin for Navigation. Is the Pioneer and Eclipse Navigation as good as the Garmin? How about the music side of things, is the Eclipse any good?

Any recomendations would be greatly appreciated.

Happy motoring,
Willie

I was actually asking myself the same thing. From the reviews that I have read the navi on the kenwoods are better than the others. The reviews at Crutchfield seemed to have an overall consensus on that. I myself have decided to get the DDX814 and plan to upgrade with the navi add on later. From what I read, there are also alot of good tuning options with this unit if that is something that matters to you

I'm starting to lean towards the Pioneer AVIC-f90BT now. There seem to be plenty of them for sale on the internet for around $560.00. I would really like the Kenwood but their current pricing is making me shy away right now.

My only concern with buying the Pioneer is the accuracy of the GPS portion. Pioneer use the Tele Atlas maps and the Kenwood models with Garmin, use Navtech maps. From what I have read and based on my experience with both map sets is that the Navtech maps are more accurate for North America and the Tele Atlas maps are better for europe. At least with the portable units they seem to be.

Can anyone comment on the navigation portion of both units?

Once again thanks for any info,
Willie

Kenwood and Pioneer are the (2) best nav units out. Kenwood is Garmin so there it is!
