Default help kenwood 9960

HI,
I was trying to customize a switch for the push to talk on the kenwood 9960...

for doing this I but the wire that was going from the back of the kenwood to the push to talk button... to use it with another switch...

I just re - spliced the wire i had cut to try and get the kenwood PTT switch to work.. but no luck...

WHat exact did I kill in this process? any advice?

Below is the image of the PTT switch .. i had cut the wire about 3 inches from where the button is...

If the wires you cut looked sort of like threaded silk and not really wire than your screwed, a lo0t of headphone manufactures use this stuff to omit interference. If it was just regualr wire than you may have missed one.

i cant tell if the wire that I cut with the 3.5mm pin works or not...

the other end of the 3.5mm pin has 2 wires... what would these be? If I want to replace the button from above... can I get a 3.5mm mono plug and get a set of wires... to replace the PTT switch from the 9960?

Thanks,

No the standard headphone jack is not the same as the plug on the end of that button. I would order a new one if I were you.

Was it like a silk substance? Or something different? I always am curious for future installs.

didnt seem like silk... just wires that were "good" quality I guess since it had the nice coating on which prevented current to flow where it should not have..
