Masa, did you have to use speakers brackets to mount the Polks? I am also checking out the AVH-P4300 as well, I can't take the stock system much longer.

Thanks,

V.

how is the sound quality of the P4300?

MikeUFLAW 08-24-2011 12:30 PM

I'm 99% sure on the Pioneer AVH-P4300DVD. Just have a question for those that own it. Can you see the artist, title and album when listening to either the radio or Sirius? Couple of comments on Crutchfield say you can't. thanks!

It depends on the stations. But on Regular radio, I get the Artist and song info Only on the Song Name line, not the artist name line. So to answer the question... yes/no. :rofl2:

I used the small spacers/brackets that came with my Polks to mount them to the door. The only custom fabrication was for the tweeter brackets. Kenny (SolidKatfish here on the forums) used the factory tweeter bracket as a template and made some new ones out of ABS plastic that we mounted the Polk tweeters to.

On normal radio stations it really depends on the station you listen to. For me, the ones I frequent listening to the most show Artist / Song Title / Station name and sometimes a small album art cover. As for Sirius/XM I wouldn't know - I just use the Pandora function and stream it through my iPhone. As you can see from my pics it shows everything if you play songs from Pandora.

Thanks! Lol. I know how its hit or miss with regular FM broadcast. You'll love HD! It typically will show the information as long as the station broadcasts it. I'm curious to know about Sirius. It doesn't make any sense that they would show the info on other sources and not Sirius. I'm hoping someone can provide some info.

I doubt I'll pay for any sort of satellite radio as 95% of the time I'm listening to my iPod. But what is the deal with HD Radio? Is it all the same stations but with stronger/more clear signals? Or is it just the ability to get the track info on my radio?

Well you're buying all in one, or buying one ready for all.

If you don't care for Sat Radio (like me) I don't feel like paying for that feature.
If you don't care for Bluetooth, or HD Radio or whatever else, you don't have to get it.

It's pretty much do you wanna buy one that does everything, or buy one that lets you pick and choose. Then it's about looks, which one looks better to you lol

Other then that, it's your wallet, pick whichever one makes you happy. :tiphat:

Alpine comes with Bluetooth and Nav. I chose to go with the Pioneer since I rarely use navigation (twice a year at most) and I never answer the phone when I am driving.

The P4300 are Bluetooth and Navigation ready but you have to buy the add-ons separately. If you don't plan on using the aforementioned features - save yourself some cash and get the P4300. Use the saved cash for other mods like a nice set of Swift springs.

I used some generic cable on mine. Did you use the PandoraLink app? I ran this app first time and it remembers the phone so all subsequent times u plug it in you just go straight into pandora.

PandoraLink for Pioneer for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad on the iTunes App Store

Edit:Sorry, didn't see the part where you said the app wasn't working. My only recommendation is closing out Pandora on your phone and rebooting it. Plug it into the HU and try to launch the Pandora Link app again to see if they pair up.

Glokwork 08-25-2011 08:46 AM

I have tried that and also reinstalled the app but no luck. The app says connect to headunit and the headunit says to open the app.

Now I cannot understand why all of you are using to relay to do the DVD bypass. All the relay is going is applying a ground to the brake switch wire (Green wire) when the unit powers on. Why not just ground the Green wire and call it a day.
