Default Pioneer/Focal installed in a base model

Purchased a Pioneer 4000DVD model unit with XM tuner, IPOD interface and PAC wheel controler along with a set of Focal V1 speakers. Had it installed at a local shop for $350.
Sound is great and after comparing the Focals with the light weight speakers that came out, it's no wonder.
Shop said that the PAC didn't work as instructed but.. after some trial and error they "figured it out" and it works just like it did with the stock radio.
They routed the IPOD cable into the box in the console and the XM antenna is placed on the dash under the windshield so there was no need to stick it on the roof.
They said that other than having to figure out the PAC, the install wasn't any different than a 350 with no issues.
For you guys in S. Arizona the shop is 'The Specialist' on Thornydale in Tucson.

Depends on what you're installing:

pac swi-ps: pioneer, sony
pac swi-jack: alpine, jvc, kenwood
pac swi-ecl(2): eclipse

Just to name a few.

That is the law with ALL DVD headunits. I disconnected it from the e-brake in mine but if you ever get caught rolling with it playing its a big fine. They can't play while the e-brake is engaged or the car is in drive.

I'll post pics of my install after I get off work today. My Ipod install is alot cleaner and may give rise to other mounting ideas.

It is nice to see that the AVIC-F90BT does charge the newest Ipod Nanos and I pretty sure it was charging the Iphone when I hooked it up for that 30 seconds to see if the connector was in a good spot.

Got mine back last night and fixed the minor issue with the windows and the SES light. Here are some pics and sorry they are huge.

Haven't noticed any with mine but then I just change one channel at a time and haven't tried machine gunning thru a bunch at high speed. One up or down flip of the switch seems to do exactly what it's sposed to. The volume control works the same as it did with the stock radio.
The installer did say that it didn't work properly following the install instructions that came with the controler but didn't specify what didn't work. Maybe there was a delay and that was what he was talking about. They got around what ever the problem was with some trial and error with the wiring so having somebody that knows what they're doing is a good thing.

Very nice installation. I really like the iPhone placement. Any I assume that this allows charging for your iPhone as well?

I have a base model which doesn't have any rear speakers. Can you tell me the brand/part# of the speakers you used for the fronts and rears?

Thanks,

-daniel
