Without going through 22 pages of this thread, is there a way to connect a rearview cam to a '09 nav/sat/bose system? I have searched quite a bit but haven't found a good answer.

Thanks!!

There was a another thread that would be more relevant regarding the backup cameras rather than the bypasses.

But to answer your question:
Nissan 370z - Car Kit Company

I created the kit for the 2010+ 370z and originally arranged a group buy and continued to offer the kits.

Jeff (no longer a 370z owner) arranged a group buy for the 2009 cars. You basically need an RGB converter for 2009 cars which puts the price up. I do a kit for the GT-R that would technically work for the 370z.

I think I'm going bug-eyed reading through this thread :)

I appreciate the kit, but I'd rather do what I did with my Lexus IS to save a bit of $$$. They have a Nav by-pass similiar to yours, but a lot of people, including myself, did a Nav hack with cutting a wire and grounding another behind the HU for vid in motion. My goal is to connect my rear view cam to the aux input in the center console via this same method. I connected my cam last night and it worked well....as long as the e-brake was up one notch. Of course, I don't want this.

Any links to this hack would be appreciated or do I need to read every page? I did see the link at the begining, but it looked like it was for '10+

Thanks!! :tiphat:

There is a DIY thread where I posted pictures etc, this thread was for those not wanting to cut wires etc so no DON'T read every page because it won't help you if you want to take the DIY approach.

For DIY approach on 2009 the principle is exactly the same as 2010+ just the pins are in a different locations and on a 40pin connector rather than 32pin. I'm sure there is another thread on here somewhere with details but you will probably have to do a little searching.

Unfortunately the connector for the heated seat switch is out of stock everywhere and on back order until mid October. It is very frustrating because we have had them on order for months. We have the switches and everything else needed, it is just that one connector that is holding us up.

We are about to release another kit that allows the use of your own switches which may be of interest. This kit is being created because some people have different ideas of which switches to use and where to locate them. It also works out cheaper because you aren't buying an expensive Nissan switch and plug. The target price of this new kit is $110 and it contains the same plug and play harness and then a harness to attached your own switches.

Maybe I missed it, but in order to have the camera work when you just put the car in reverse (not bypassed) do you need to have the backup camera harness as well, or does the bypass harness supplement this?

Thank!

Thank!

The bypasss kit allows you to switch on the rear carmera without engaging reverse and it works if the car has either the factory rear camera or one of our rear camera kits.

If the car doesn't have the factory rear camera then our rear camera kit can be used and the rear camera will be just like the factory camera and it will appear when reverse is engaged.

Does that answer your question?

I think so. Since 2010 model didn't come with a factory camera I need a rear camera kit to turn the camera on when I engage reverse.

If I only got the bypass kit I could force it on, but putting the car in reverse would not result in the camera turning on automatically.

Correct, if you only got the bypass kit there would be no camera to turn on :)

You need the rear camera kit to get the camera.

Brian's kit is top notch. Installed his camera and bypass kits awhile ago. It's a great setup, totally plug and play.

Great to hear. I plan on placing an order here soon.

The Dimer 10-07-2012 10:34 PM

Order placed, can't wait to get it. It's the one other thing I wish Nissan had made an option on the 2010's.

I see you ordered just the harness so I'm assuming you either already have your own camera or will be sourcing one?

If you don't care about the Nissan switch I have a solution that is cheaper that might interest you. Currently my the370zcom inbox is full and waiting for Vendor status to be restored so I can reply to messages. In the mean time if you email me -> Brian at CarKitCompany dot com I will send you some details and pictures of the other option.

Best regards,
Brian

I'm going on two years with my kit and still love it!

tadundas 09-07-2013 09:09 PM

will it work on 09 z's or do they have a different nav set up?

LMBmikeZ 09-08-2013 09:10 AM

go to his site

www.carkitcompany.com

he has the fix for both 09 models as well as the 10+ models. Only the 09's are different.

LMBmikeZ 09-08-2013 09:17 AM

I may be wrong you should actually email him, the site says he is not offering anything for the 09's as there is many other vendors that already do etc.....

Nissan 370z - Car Kit Company

However I know he has in the past made some 09 applications.

IMO - Great quality, awesome options (i.e. switch or remotes) and everyone around here would highly recommend his products! thanks again bdl99 (Brian) love my bypass and camera kit :tiphat:

So just how hard is this to install? Do I have to rip out the dash and NAV screen to get at the wiring harness?

I did on mine but it wasn't any more difficult than the average stereo install and he sends a set of good instructions. I think there is a DIY on this site as well.
