Default Aftermarket Nav Questions

I'm looking at replacing the stock radio in a Base Model with an aftermarker Nav system. I've narrowed my choices down to the Kenwood 5120 or the Pioneer 900BT. At this point, my head has exploded and I need some advice.

First, do I need to replace the 4-speakers from the base system. If so, I am looking for a mid-level speaker that will sound okay. I'm not an audiophile, just don't want to waste the HU on crappy stock speakers. What would y'all recommend?

Second, the HU. I love how the Pioneer 900BT looks. But I think I like the Garmin nav on the Kenwood better. Can you change the backlighting color on the Kenwood like you can on the Pioneer?

That the point I'm at right. Thanks for any suggestions!

-Jay

yes you can change the background on the Kenwood.

As for replacing the stock speakers?

I would pick anything thats 3-way or higher.

If you have separate twitters then i would just get the 3-way.

It really depends on what you are willing to spend on speakers. Price doesn't always mean the best either.

Default Made my choices

Here's what I am going to order:

Head Unit - Pioneer AVIC F900BT
IPOD Wire - Pioneer CD-IU230V
Steering Wheel Controls - PAC SWI-PS
Sirius Sat Radio - Pioneer CD-SB10 and Sirius SC-C1
Speakers - Alpine SPS-600C
Wiring Harness
Antenna Adapter

Anyone recommend getting the HD Tuner? Also, can I use the stock wiring or should I put new wiring in it? Anything I miss? Thanks!

I recommend HD Digital Radio……….digital sounds better. Cables are supplied with unit.

The pioneer ipod interface is pretty crap. Though I haven't made the swap (i got the 90BT which comes with the cable) a lot of people at avic411 swear by the ipod video cable direct from apple. I'm curious if that would fix my won't-connect-on-cold-start problem.

Changed my mind! Heres my updated upgrade list for the stereo:

Here's what I am going to order:

Head Unit - Eclipse AVN 4430 (just came out...SWEETNESS)
IPOD Wire - Eclipse Ipc-409 (came free with my AVN 4430)
Steering Wheel Controls - AVN 4430 automatically reprograms for steering wheel controls!
Speakers - Undecided
Amp - Eclipse XA4200
Sub - Stock/Undecided
