Default Speaker Suggestion - Rear with Bass

All,

I'm looking for some rear speakers. I will build a box so I can use 6.5 components. I know many people say rears aren't necessary but I definitely notice a difference with no rear fill. Currently I have OZ Audio 180CS in the front so I want something to compliment those. I'm not looking to add a separate sub, so a set with some decent bass would be ideal. They will be powered with 150 watts from a JL 300/4 amp I'm already using for the fronts.

Any suggestions on model/brand of speaker. The only suggestion I have so far is a set of components from Powerbass speakers. Are these any good? Never really heard anything about them. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Anyone have experience with the Alpine SPX-17REF? They have a low end specified at 35Hz.

Currently have a JL 300/4. It is already powering the front speakers so 1/2 the power is available for there rear (150 obviously).

Dont do that. Speakers in the back that far will destroy your front stage. Use the stock locations and some small 3-1/2" speakers and use 300Hz bass blockers. These will give you a nice side fill rather than rear fill and your front stage will remain promenant. Try it, you will be impressed with the results.

The only speaker way back should be your sub.

Run the rear speakers from your deck or head unit and bridge off the back 2 channels on your JL amp and run a nice sub. You will not need that kind of power on the rear speakers. 10 watts would be enough for rear fill.

You will be selling yourself short by not adding a sub. Even a small one that would fit in your spare tire well would make your system sound 10 times better. If you are going this far, why not go just a little further and add some bottom end.

I have to agree fully with this comment.
