It is a tad big for the Z, I wouldve lowered it more though, it just looks like its sitting too high and not flush enough. I dont know how the Ipad works, but do you have am/fm, is the sound quality better?

the custom mount is awesome! but yea, looks too big! maybe if it was 1/3 smaller then yea.

It's big, but it's not too big -- it's an ipad, so what do you expect?

"Perfect" would be something no bigger than the standard navi screen. That's a lot bigger, but IMO not excessive...

Doesn't look like it can be turned horizontally in that "mount". Looks like the center piece was re-designed for it. What's the EQ thing below it with the blue lights? You should disassemble it and put in some red/orange LEDs instead of the blue. I've done that on fan controllers and other items; not too difficult really.

doesn't flow with the dash lines at all, sticks out too much, if you plan to just leave it in there without any capability to hide it, have fun replacing your iPad and windows because someone will smash and grab that thing. kudos for being one of the first installs, but could be better imo.

Imo looks bad looks like its not really secure and sits up to high. I agree with the smash and grab deal.

yah really...it's not like we forced someone to post a clipboard on their dash and call it a install. you're excited about your install that's great. but if you're going to post something to the international community, be ready to get comments good and bad.

I'm not butt hurt, I just think its funny that everytime someone posts a cool ipad in car idea, which obviously took some level of ingenuity and time, you are so quick to stomp it and be negative about it. You can post your opinion without being a complete negative Nancy. All I was saying. Notice how big and phelan posted their opposite opinions with reasons as to why they felt that way. Not just "oh its crap stop doing it!"

yeah i think the ipad stick outs way to far... careful when driving too because law enforcement may pull you over for having this obstruction or this awesome distraction :ughdance:

So as long I state a reason why I don't like this ipad in a car idea its ok right? How about its way too big, its an eyesore, probably dangerous to use during normal driving, and it literally looks like someone stuck it on the top cubby hole door with double sided tape. There's no thought into doing something like that.. I can tape a tablet PC to my dash too, but I choose not to because its retarded.. Its not innovative.. Its got FAIL written all over it.

Until someone actually custom molds something that into a dashboard, and actually makes it look good.. My OPINION on this will remain the same.

There is no thought in doing this? Thats funny cuz I distinctively remember putting plenty of thought into my install, as im sure the op and other diy's have. If its not innovative then why are reputable companies like metra and schosche looking into possible iPad mounts for vehicles? I am not a fanboy, however I do enjoy my iPad plenty. I appreciate your opinion, I'm just saying give the guys who take time out of their day for the community the credit they deserve. :tiphat:

I think it's cool and I disagree with the notion that it looks like it was slapped up there or that it's too big for the space. I'm sure you'll be mindful of the road cause, well you're an adult and its the responsible thing to do, so I don't get that jab coming your way either. As far as smash and grab, effed up people take things that don't belong to them, unfortunately thass the world we live in, I'm sure you were cognizant of that fact also so I don't understand the comments regarding the possibility of theft. Think I've seen people's Z's on cinder blocks on this forum for stock rims so, um, yea, thanks for pointing out the obvious fellas.

Anyway, I think there is a classy way to say you don't like something and then there is the other way.......

I can't personally think how I would mount my I-pad in my car. That being said I think its a geat job.

Ah thanks for the feedback guys. I know some of you think silly and looks "crap" but I love it :) That matters I guess. I think the guy did an excellent job with the dashboard and I'm a happy customer.

The iPad is portable, I don't intend to leave it inside the car especially during this crazy hot summer season. Beside the obvious reason that is to prevent getting smashed and robbed, iPad doesn't operate in a high temperature. So it needs to be stored in a cool temperature.

As far as the delivery of the feedback, being honest is always greatly appreciated.. being disagree it's perfectly normal. That's what this forum is all about. I only wish that when people disagree, they could express it in a constructive manner. However I understand some people can be a straight to the point type of guy. Which is fine.

I guess you have to see it in person, since I don't understand your comment regarding the double sided tape, because it is flushed in to the dashboard (the chubby box was removed by the way).

OP, I think that looks legit!

There is no such thing as TOO BIG. The bigger the better, and the easier to use while driving = safer. I plan on doing an iPad install this summer and it will likely look similar. I'm not sure I want to permanently alter the car's dash, but I want to make it look integrated. You should make a DYI of your install job.

It might have helped if you showed Navigon or CoPilot HD running on it (or how about RadarScope) instead.

I think I agree it would have been better if it could have been mounted lower and more inset in the dash (with the other device remove). Too bad it is so hard to write custom hardware code on it, but something like DashCommand would still be really cool.

Think about it - for the price of a HKS Camp II, Navigation unit, MP3 player, Internet radio unit you could easily get a 3G iPad and some apps to replace all of that.

what are those tiny little blue circles? Besides do we really need an ipad attached? I feel as though u can just put it on ur lap or something. Plus, is it even legal to be on an ipad while driving? lol.

I feel like putting my Ipad in my Nismo just to piss this guy off! lol
