Look at Modshack's custom mount. Search should bring it up.

Agreed, this mount is very good! Functional, looks good.

So just curious though.. why couldn't you put the suction cup on the windsheid? I don't think it would damage your tint, as long as the cup part is clean I'd think it should be ok.

I believe Modshack has recently come up with a new variation of GPS mount, the one I was referring to that ModShack came up with is shown here...
http://auffarth.com/Bill%27sFolder/242.jpg. This bracket with a hardwire coming from the cubby hole is a terrific way to go.

yah, modshack's latest hidaway bracket is cool.

this is my version following his design... the bracket folds inside the cubby while car is not in use. :p

here's my G. i just bought a ARKON (sp?) cigarette lighter adapter bracket. i tightend down the G's socket a little bit and added a 0.8mm plastic on the plug to keep it nice and tight while in the socket. works great with my 205W as it turns on/off with the ignition. :D

Question, what unit do you have. As of now I'm using the Magellan Maestro 4700 and it fits inside the cubby just right so that you don't need anything to hold it in, it's a perfect fit. I just open the cubby and there it is. Although I went out and purchased the Magellan 1700 (7" screen) today and I'm planning on making a custom mount that goes in front of the cubby door. I wasn't crazy about having the cubby door open when I was using the nav, but it is a great stealth look. To each his own. If I don't like the look of the 7" on the outside I plan on keeping the 4700 where it is.

This one http://auffarth.com/Bill%27sFolder/242.jpg requires absolutely no drilling and will work well with your Nuvi 255W.

Basically a stick on Garmin mount on a strip of metal as shown in the pic earlier in this thread. Here is an eBay seller selling the stick on mount.. Garmin Nuvi 755 760 765 770 775 780 785 Stick-On Mount - eBay (item 360228726284 end time Jun-22-10 00:30:39 PDT)
