Any speaker you will pretty much need the spacers. Also great choice of budget speakers.

Sad that a 35,000 plus car with all the technology it comes with, has such a crappy stock sound. It's amazing the difference I hear after replacing the Head Unit and speakers....No comparison...I know I didnt get the touring package, but come on!!! I dont know if you guys know, but the original Head Unit doesn't even have the plugs in the back to connect new speakers,amp,etc...If you want to improve your stock sound you have to replace everything...which still is cheaper than the BOSE,but again...it is the only flaw i find with the car.

Budget as in they are not any good or budget as in they just don't cost as much as the others ?
I prettty much read these audio threads from front to back and take most opinions with a grain of salt, that being said there are a few people here that seems to be pretty knowledgable. I'm a very firm beliver that just because something cost more does not make it much better (kinda like you always knocking jl product)
So please enlighten me per your comment are they not any good or they just plain cheap ? As i stated before i don't have a budget when it comes to things I want. But i will not over pay just cause I'm able. Thanx

Heya~

I installed them (polk mm) in my BASE Z without the use of spacers.

I think I ended up drilling an extra hole in the black plastic adapter/bracket that was included with the speakers, but overall it was do-able without extra spacers. (without further modification to the speaker itself or the door)

Regardless of the speaker choice, I think the majority (?? maybe all) of the aftermarket ones would be better than the stock BASE audio speakers.

I don't have pictures of the component speakers in the door, but I do have one that I took when installing the tweeter.

BTW, I used a acrylic plate that I bought from Lowes and made an adapter for the tweeters. Just FYI.

6SPD,

I placed the crossovers in the area behind the drivers/passengers side kickpanel. Plenty of room.

I used some heavy duty duty double sided tape to keep it from moving.

I got bored and went to best buy and bought a set of Alpine SPS-600 speakers. Not the 600C, but the coaxial 600. The install was meh, made it work fine without adapters. Man, the sound is so much better, way better than stock. They work great with the kind of music I listen to, progressive metal, goth/symphonic metal, especially considering it all contains very detailed lead guitar work. I guess having 4 tweeters now makes the high ended-ness of the lead guitar work shine. Good stuff, not to mention much less muddy sounding bass. If these are half as good as the OP's polks (which I was gonna get, but decided not to), then he'll be very happy.
