Really don't know if this fits here just needed to vent.
Why would nissan put such as a cheap _ss systen in what to me is really
a for the money a world class sports car. It sounds like a cheap 1960s Japanese
hand held radio. Sorry for the vent just wanted to get it off my chest. know what my first mod is.

Try the BASE model!! That sounds sad....I would know. No rear speakers=FAIL IMO Jeez, my old 2004 Neon sounded 50x better and thats pathetic haha

I was actually very suprised at how good my base system sounds. To be honest the radio just sounds blah but when I pop in a cd the base hits pretty hard. It sounds great I think. I had an 04 350Z touring with the bose and I don't miss it.

I guess that's good point. My point was they improved the 370 over the 350
in so many areas but forgot about the sound system. the inside of the car is great until you turn on the radio.

You r absolutely right the base system sounds impressive that i am thinking about not upgrading it to a double din because it is going to diminish the sound I have a 2007 Durango and I removed the OEM radio with a JVC and it sound poor I regret it I am afraid that it will happen to my fairlady

Come on now it is not a fair comparison to make between a crappy stock radio put in by a car company and high end aftermarket audio. If you are into high end audio you should know better than to expect any stock system, base or bose to be able to compete with that stuff. So bottom line is and it's never changed, that if you want high end audio you buy the cheapest stock radio you can and then you yank it out. This is standard operating procedure. But bitching that the stock base or bose doesn't compare with an aftermarket system is ridiculous. I mean what were you expecting?

That said the 370z bose/nav system is better than most stock car systems. It still sucks, but where is the surprise in that? I am not sure what the complaint is? I have never heard a decent stock system installed by a car manufacturer (when compared to aftermarket systems). If you have high end audio expectations you should know it has to be aftermarket. This discussion is really moot.

Um I would check out the harmon/kardon systems in some cars and the infinity is others both blow away the bose system.

I had the Harmon Kardon ICE 12 speaker system in my Landrover and it had 3-way components in the doors. With the exception of lots of deep bass output it would put many aftermarket systems to shame. It was good enough that the only upgrade I did was add an aftermarket subwoofer and amplifier. It had impressive mid bass output and imaging and midrange was was suprizingly good!

I also had an Audi that had a monsoon system that was suprizingly good too. For not having subs it sounded very full and controlled.

you guys should have NOT gotten a sports car if you are going to complain about the audio quality...

Jeez - whats up with all these new owners these days - seems to me like the first thread opened is either about how loud the road noise is or how much the sound quality sucks or how much the paint sucks.... seriously.. its a sports car... meant to get to 1g - get out and drive - the only music I hear is the sweet sound of my VQ and the sound of tires and road having serious disagreements

The Bose System Sounds pretty good... not perfect.
as for the owners with the base stereo! rip it out and install a better Stereo System...

"a for the money a world class sports car" ......... you answered your own question here. Nissan was trying to offer the level of performance our cars have AND keep the price of the base model under $30,000.......... a tough accomplishment. Adding a higher quality stereo to the base model did not co-exist with that goal.

If my windows are down, I rarely turn the audio system on (or keep it in low volume) The exhaust sound of the VQ engine > the best stereo system in the world. (at least that's how I feel )

The stock stereo is def-sub par for a 30k+ car but i guess that's a trade-off for the performance we are getting for the $$$$. I can deal with it as I'm not blasting tunes and when I have my ipod hooked up it sounds much better than the radio.

I gotta agree with shabarivas, its a sports car! Same thing goes for other nuances with certain things. It all factors into keeping the car at the price point it's at.
