Default door locked signal sound

I don't even know if I'm asking this correctly.
Hopefully someone can help me.

I wanted to know if there is a way to change the sound when you lock your doors? Currently it honks the horn once. I've noticed that when I have the car running and I walk away it makes 3 chirps. Is there a way to use this as a signal that I locked my doors? I've tried google and the search function but I don't know how to search for this.

Thank you

Char

i don't think so i think they have to be different so it notifies that the car is on or off cause the three chirps is just telling you that the keys are not in the car

The 3 chirps are to let you know that the car is running (but the key is not near). It's diffrent from the chirp you get when you lock the door.

The door lock chirp can be turned on/off from the fob (hold both the lock and unlock keys for 3 seconds till the lights flash). I don't think you can change the "missing key" alarm though.

I think I didn't phrase my question right. I like the chirps. Isn't there a way to change the honk to a chirp?
I like having a sound when locking but the horn is a bit much for me.

Leave your remote in your pocket and use the door buttons versus the remote. The pitfall is that you cannot lock your Z from a distance. The three buttons (drivers, passenger, and trunk) all act the same, and the horn does not beep.

I've kept ours this way just in case we forget if we've locked the Z, but are father along in a parking lot and want to use the remote and actually hear the horn as a confirmation.

In the owners manual there are instructions on how to configure the remote to only use the hazard flashers and no horn.

Setting hazard indicator and horn mode This vehicle is set in hazard indicator and horn mode when you first receive the vehicle. In hazard indicator and horn mode, when the LOCK button *1 is pushed, the hazard indicator flashes twice and the horn chirps once. When the UNLOCK button*2 is pushed, the hazard indicator flashes once.

If horns are not necessary, the system can be switched to the hazard indicator mode. In hazard indicator mode, when the LOCK button is pushed, the hazard indicator flashes twice. When the UNLOCK button is pushed, neither the hazard indicator nor the horn operates.

Switching procedure:
To switch the hazard indicator and horn (chime) operation, push the LOCK *1 and UNLOCK *2 buttons on the Intelligent Key simultaneously for more than 2 seconds.
. When the hazard indicator mode is set, the hazard indicator flashes 3 times.
. When the hazard indicator and horn mode is set, the hazard indicator flashes once and the horn chirps once.

Thanks for they information. I actually want to hear a sound when I lock the doors but I want to replace the loud horn sound with the quieter chirp.

Odd seems like they turn off the honk on the 370Z standard here.
