Default Installing Factory Navigation

I purchased a Touring/Sport that doesn't have NAV and now I'm wishing it did. I like the like integration of the factory system. Is it possible to install the factory system in the car after the fact? I asked my dealer prior to buying the car if it was and they of course said yes. Now that I'm trying to do it, they say it's imposssible and cost prohibitive.

What do you guys think? Was it possible in the 350Z? I think it can be done.

You're better off getting an aftermarket solution. It will save you lots of time and money.

Definitely don't go the factory navi/integration route in your circumstance.

Just make a quick trip and take a look at the aftermarket stuff that is available at your local car audio dealer, take notes, then go home and order everything online unless the local dealer will do price matching.

Then again... You live in KY... Good luck!

I recently went to my local Nissan dealership and when I told them I was looking for the exact car in their showroom but with navigation they told me that the nav. units weren't even built yet....thats a load of bs right? I can't see how that would be true....

If I am understanding you correctly they said the 370Z doesn't come with Nav because the NAV unit isn't built yet?

That is BS the dealers I went to both had Nav Units in them.

If the NAV is available seperatly for purchase...That I don't know.

I had a 2007 nissan 350z and it was a touring edition that did not have a navigation. The dealer told me he would install a factory one for me and when I went to pick it up it had an aftermarket Avic-2 installed. I was never more disapponited when I picked it up! I absolutely hated the after market navigation and I suggest you don't do it because it was such a pain! In order to hear the voice on he navigation (without this weird buzz) noise they had to disconnect a subwoofer and it caused the speakers to sound low! Point being- in the end the dealer said it was impossible to install a factory navigation if it was not oringinally installed!

Nope. Navi isn't standard for the Touring trim. You have to say "pretty please" and add 3 grand to the invoice.

We chose not to go the factory nav route (for two reasons: 1. typically the factory navs are not as good some of the better aftermarket, and 2. they did not have a 370z with one when we purchased). However, that being said, I do believe that the Z's factory nav is a good deal, and I am learning that it can adjust some of the Z's features that only be accomplished through the nav unit. (I am verifying these features before I start another thread about them.)

I am looking at buying a used 2012 Touring that does not have Nav, and was wondering if it is still possible to instal the factory nav into a used car? In their brochure Nissan advertises the nav system for about 2k- is that accurate or are they going to try to charge me more for labor? I noticed the last post was from a few years ago, so any updated info would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Anything is possible but it will be EXTREMELY difficult to do it as you would have to rip apart the dash and install all the wiring (if you can figure out how to do that!) and buying all the parts and pieces to do the install. (I think the wiring is not in place for one, just like the rear speaker wiring is not in place for Base and that is a simple one). You would be looking at over $3000 in parts and labor and a lot of headache. You would be better off with an aftermarket stereo with NAV or trading the car in with one from the factory.
