I seem to have problems using my iPod Touch. Sometimes, while playing, it just decides the iPod isn't connected any longer and the only way to get it to recognize

I seem to have problems using my iPod Touch. Sometimes, while playing, it just decides the iPod isn't connected any longer and the only way to get it to recognize it again is to stop the damn car, turn off the engine, and turn it back on again.
I realize it's not the same as your iPhone problem but may be related in that the OEM navi doesn't work as well with the iPhone / iPod Touch as they lead you to believe.
