Default Metra Axxess ASWC-1 dead after parking z for the winter

Hello fellow z owners and car audio gurus,

I had parked my z for the winter and recently got her insured and driving. I noticed that my swc were no longer working the ASWC-1 module LED doesn't turn on.

I've essentially narrowed it down to the module being dead. I still get ±12V from the wiring harness and the swc worked before I parked the car.

My question is does anyone have experience with their ASWC dying after parking for long periods of time? Is it common or did I just get a bad module? Or if it's not dead has anyone been able to revive the damn thing?

For reference I have a 2016 base 370z with a Sony XAV AX3000 head unit.

Was the inside of the car exposed to excess moisture or extreme temperatures? Was it connected to a power source that is active when the car is off (did your car start after you took it out of storage)?

Solid state electronics are pretty robust. Certain levels of humidity and temp changes could cause issues if there is power to the board in any way, or power to the board shortly after exposure to excess moisture without proper drying, but an unpowered board just sitting in a relatively controlled environment shouldn't just break. I mean, everything in the car would be at risk if that were the case.

Something may have failed in the unit when you started the car for the first time after it sat. Maybe it couldn't handle the voltage surge from a system with a weaker than normal battery? Bottom line, is that a product like that should be able to handle these kind of automotive situations. Your unit didn't. Your best bet is to probably buy a new one from Amazon and return the defective one in its place.

Thanks for replying Radensb,

There wasn't a lot of moisture; whatever there was it was just contained to mainly the driver side window and there wasn't any moisture on the back of the dashboard behind the head unit.

However the battery did die due to a cold snap we had where I lived and I had to jump start the car a couple times. (Never buy cheap car batteries). I judging from your expertise it sounds like that might have caused something to break.

I did order a new one from Amazon just to plug it in and see if it'll work. Ill keep you updated in the coming days.

Thanks!

UPDATE: the second module worked. The first one died so I guess I'm going to invest and get a better battery now.

Sounds like a bad module. Sometimes it happens. I've had a few dead upon arrivals but that's to be expected when you've done over 100 370z installs
