Default Back Up Camera.

Was reading through the DIY for rear camera install and I noticed the color for my wires is different than the one in the DIY thread. I read through the service manual and I can't find the color coding for the wires. My voltmeter is dead and everything is closed at this hour. Here's a pic of the wires, does anyone know which wire is the backup lamp power wire?

The DIY thread said to tap into the orange wire for camera power, but in my picture I don't see an orange wire. Unless they were referring to the peach color wire?

It's normally the orange wire in that harness. Keep in mind there are two orange wires in there.

That's the other confusing part, I only see one orange wire in the harness. Going to get a voltmeter just to be sure.

It might help if you tell us the year of your Z. Also, if you look behind the harness the bulb would plug into helps to confirm the color of the wire you seek. Its been a while since I did mine so I dont want to confirm whether its an off-orange.

I would take a needle and a multimeter/test light and put the car in reverse and find the wire that is live when Reverse is enabled and backup lights are on. My 2009 wires didn't match guides on here, my wire was sorta tan/orange colored. My wire was in the main bundle not in the small bundle you are showing here.

DIY: Rearview Camera & DVD

You'll need something like Navtool and a camera.

  • With Radio off, press and hold the “Settings” button and turn the volume control counter clockwise.
  • After about 40 clicks a menu will appear
  • Select “confirmation/adjustment”*
  • Move down to “Camera” and select*
  • Select “Camera Syst Type” and change from “No Camera” to “With Rear view Camera”
  • Come all the way out of the menus using the back button and the system will reboot

Now when you put the car in reverse, if a blue screen appears with:
*“Please check your surroundings”*
your car is compatible.

The above instructions were pulled from this post. If they work, follow the information in the post to install a camera.
