REAR Wheel Well Noise - G37 wheel liners?

Okay so I put around 15 sq' of GT Mat Quadro in the back. It has nicely reduced the exhaust drone, and actually, strangely, has made it sound better from

Default REAR Wheel Well Noise - G37 wheel liners?

Okay so I put around 15 sq' of GT Mat Quadro in the back.

It has nicely reduced the exhaust drone, and actually, strangely, has made it sound better from inside the car (FI 18" res cat back).

So it's been about a week now, and there's prettymuch zero reduction in rear wheel well noise. After adding the mat, I can discern exhaust vs. rear wheel well noise a lot easier especially on sections of road that transistion from new/old pavement.

I have a gallon of Second Skin "Spectrum" on the way, will try that along with some 3m mats

Question: I've read around online, and it seems like the Z is basically the same as the G37, but the G has more sound deadening from the factory, including rear wheel well liners (outer/felt lined). Has anyone thought of or attempted to see if they would fit in the Z?

Switching tires may dramatically reduce your noise, particularly if they are worn.

9 month old michelin pilot super sports... I would recommend if you're going to take the time and put the work in for g37 liners to just skip ahead to second skin Luxury liner pro OR Sound Skin.

Either will be much more effective at what you're trying to accomplish then a crappy stock g37 liners. I know, I own a g37 and am currently removing the stock liners and putting the above products in.

I'm going for the Second Skin Spectrum, will arrive tomorrow, one Gallon. Then will add a second and third layer of GT Mat Quadro focused on the rear wheel arches on the inside. Also have some ensolite foam/foil stuff arriving too for the inside.

Also debating after the spectrum dries/cures, I can throw on some additional 3m mats.

Thank you for posting! I HEAR g37's all the time, just for some reason, in Beaverton Oregon, G37 drivers only drive at night apparently. Is there some rule that was passed? Personally I stick to daytime so I can atleast spot the cops!

What sparked this pursuit: I rode in my friends 2014 Audi A4, just a basic run of the mill A4. Astonishing how much quieter that thing is!

Applied the Second Skin Spectrum on the rear wheel wells this evening.

Best part: Did not even need to take the wheels off! After raising the car, I got in there n banged around a bit. The noise is on the outer 3rd of the wheel well, where it's ultra tinny! This is the source of the problem! The rest of the wheel well decreases in tone and makes a thud as you move closer to the frame and shock tower.

So I focused on the outer third and gouped on several layers. While waiting for it to dry, got under and polished the tips of the fast intentions exhaust.

Noticed while under that part there's this stock heat shield. Has anyone removed this to add sound deadening on the part above the exhaust? The FI exhaust is nowhere near this, but it's where the majority of exhaust drone will come from. Looks like 4 bolts remove it.

Car will sit for 5 days for everything to dry...

Well,

HAD to make a beer run across the street today.... Not much difference in the back with the second skin spectrum. Added another layer and called it a day after messing around with the door.

Tried those lanzars with the stock HU... no go... actually sounded like blown speakers so put the stocker back in for now:

An update:

So after a few applications of second skin "spectrum" on the outer rear wheel well areas, and additional layers of GT Mat + Noico + additional foam layer on the insides, I've successfully gotten the noise from the back area of the car to a very reasonable level.

I found a bigger difference going back the second time and using different types of material.

Still need to do the area directly behind the seats, and the floor, and ditch this abysmal stock stereo!!
