Default Galaxy Tablet Cubby Install

Hey guys, Im just reposting this from the DIY section.

After hours of searching online and not finding exactly what I was looking for, I took matters into my own hands and started my own build. This install is for the Samsung galaxy Tab mounted behind the cubby.

Why this set up?
1. Clean factory look
2. Retain the storage
3. Retain lid door so you can close and open
4. Only charges when ignition on
5. Total $25 parts cost excluding tablet

Home button and power will be fully accessible. Volume buttons unneeded. Aux jack routed behind and out to the front of radio. USB charger will be plugged in and routed to the passenger cigarette lighter. You can always unplug from cigarette lighter and plug into laptop to transfer media. You will lose about 1/4 of an inch display but thats fine. I attached a few pics of what its gonna look like. Youtube video with instructions will be posted soon after complete install. Im just waiting on a memory card to arrive and SIM card so I can have 4g for gps and web surfing.

Let me what you guys think. And Ill update you guys when everything done.
More pics and youtube video with full install soon.

How about just a phone?

Have an OBDII adapter sitting around, never thought to see if my phone fit the cubby, it does perfectly . Running Torque, might add a few more uses for it but Torque was the most interesting.

Phone is a Asus Zenfone 2, screen is 5.5".

I always thought about this but the fact that it is so recessed drives me nuts. Good work, though!

Haha nice i found the youtube video before i found this post. I liked the install. However i would want the tablet close to the front for better visibility and would rather lose the storage. Or maybe even hidden compartment hmmm.

removed visor, 3d printed an attachment that goes where the hole is for visor, put some magnets in it, wired in power via usb cable.
