Default Burgundy tail lights

might be a dumb question? anywhoo, Ive been wanting to tint my tail lights but I'm not into the BLACK tail lights. i remember seeing a 350z once with semi tinted taillights. giving it a Burgundy look, and a couple other cars too. anyone know how id be able to accomplish that?
thanks in advance

A permanent route I've seen some cars take is night shading to the desired darkness, then having a professional sand it smooth and clear coat it to reflect nice and bright. Of course, this is quite irreversible. Maybe a lighter shade of tint?

Initially i was looking into film. Like window tint film? And was hoping to find a 35% shade because i don't like the bright red look of the taillights. But i couldn't find anything just super black films.
I wouldnt mind the night shading spray. Ive sanded and polished so many cars in actually pretty good at it. Id go to a junk yard and get me a pair of old honda lights first and try it on that lol.

Hm, window tint film might not work, due to the complex shape of the taillights. It barely works on any curve. Most tints for lights are usually a vinyl type of thing, which is more malleable and contours easily to sharp edges and whatnot. Maybe bluebatoverlay on this forum can help you out with a lighter shade of his precut vinyls?

As for the nightshade, I think it comes out way better than any cover or tint, but again, I couldn't justify such a permanent mod to some expensive tail lights. Then again, you could always trade back to stock with someone, heh. If you have the painting experience, go for it! I personally am so bad at painting smoothly, haha.

Just go to a body shop and have it done. Its not that expensive and will be done right. Just have them lighlty tinted and it will give the look you want.

yes, you wipe it down with alcohol and sand it down, then 2 coats of night shade, let it dry and maybe 4 coats of clear coat i dont really remeber. It is the easiest thing you can do, removing the taillight is also easy.
in this thread you can find how to remove the tails

Found a few old pics... basically it all depends on the amount of BLACK PAINT you able. The fewer coats you put, the lighter they will be. They will look burgundy because the RED PLASTIC will somewhat bleed through the black... Its a contrast thing lol

Add two pics of headlights incase you wanted to know about painting your headlights also.
