um...... the pistons and rods are the only difference that i'm aware of (at least it used to be before the carrera got direct injection with the 997.5 model). the transmissions are the same, just regeared with a taller 1st gear to make sure the caymanS isn't faster than the carrera 2. it wouldn't cost them any more to make the cayman faster, it's already got the chassis and brakes for it, porsche just holds it back. irregardless, the caymanS is still a performance bargain for the price, especially considering its one of the best cars you will ever drive... ever. it's that good, trust me
