My car was crashed

Hello everyone.

I took my car to have my CAT Armytrix exhaust installed on it at a local shop here in Destin Florida. Well the employees do the shop took my car for a joy ride and crashed it. Hours before the crash the foreman called and informed me that my car was almost complete. I was waiting at home for the next phone call to pick up my car. He called me and told me my car had been in an accident. I asked several times how much damage was done to my vehicle and why it was being driven off their property. He told me just the rear quarter panel was damage. That was a lie. When the legal proceedings are finished I will post the name of this company so no one else goes through this. My car was prestige, garage kept not a scratch. I put 3000 miles on it since I've owned her. I'm in and out the country a lot.

DEpointfive0 08-09-2014 09:00 AM

Your car is totaled too, I hope you know that

brutusvk 08-09-2014 09:04 AM

Sue them out of existence. And go after the driver as well.

cv129 08-09-2014 09:05 AM

Sorry to see. Best of luck.

nismolucino 08-09-2014 09:08 AM

My god I would kill someone. Best of luck I hope you sue them and win.

1flaguy 08-09-2014 09:19 AM

Wow that sucks definitely sue the crap out of them they deserve it

janglez 08-09-2014 09:19 AM

damn so sorry...i'd own that company... go after them and the driver relentlessly

Radride 08-09-2014 10:06 AM

Even if you repair the car, it will never be the same. There will be squeeks and rattles that came out of no where. I would be suing them for sure unless they come to you with at least 50k so you can buy the new Nismo ;).

R.K.

Super Werty 08-09-2014 11:50 AM

Wow! What did they hit?

binary0x01 08-09-2014 12:37 PM

Don't do anything stupid, remember it is just a car, just lawyer up and get what's yours and buy a better car. That's some classless and irresponsible shop...

My40thZ 08-09-2014 06:49 PM

Sad to hear she is totaled I truly loved that car

zefaulter 08-09-2014 06:55 PM

Those bastards... This is why I don't let my Z out of my sight and do most maintenance work myself

Get them to buy you new nismo

Mr&Mrs 08-09-2014 07:07 PM

This makes me sick im so sorry. Im not usually a sue advocator but I say go for it in this case. Best of luck and if you want another Z I hope you find the right one.

axmea? 08-09-2014 07:15 PM

Worst thing that could ever happen. Makes you think twice about leaving your car to anyone. Sorry this happened to you, let alone to a 40th. Take this as far as you can. Make a point to stress the exclusivity of the 40th. I would not settle for book value. Fight for BV plus.

Z-Girl 12 08-09-2014 08:32 PM

So sucks, sorry.

GaleForce 08-09-2014 09:35 PM

Wow! Sorry to hear and see this. I hope things get resolved to your satisfaction, and in a timely matter.

BeemaaZ 08-10-2014 12:37 AM

Just read this... That is so awful. My guess is VDC was off during the joyride...

I really hope you get everything back.... Including pain and suffering...

ZKraken22 08-10-2014 08:29 AM

How does that work, exactly? Never take it in for aftermarket? Maintenance? Valet?

My son is a service tech. Sometimes, the tech just has to drive the car.

My40thZ 08-10-2014 09:57 PM

It was driven twice the speed limit in he rain and hydroplane then crashed far away from there shop. There was no need for that kind of test thy should have called me and let me drive it

SwissCheese 08-10-2014 10:25 PM

It's one thing to take it for a quick test drive to make sure everything is okay, but there's no excuse for taking it for a joy-ride like that.

thompsontechs 08-10-2014 11:40 PM

You can see they lost it and it either swapped ends, or they tagged a curb really heard. The upper looks like a guard-rail deal. Bad mojo brother, so sorry for your loss. You should get twice book for that type of stuff. I had it happen once with a GTS Celica and for being without a car, anxiety etc etc. I got 28k with a KBB of 13.2.

Stay strong and look forward to that Cayman you can now afford. :)

i installed my own mods and do my own maintenance. for mandatory valet i take a pic of the mileage, tip them and make sure the car stays out in the front. i'm also very physically intimidating so they probably would fear for their life if anything would happen to my car. all of this is easy. this guy lost his baby over a simple exhaust install. not cool

Not practical advice for the vast majority of car owners.

All car owners maybe. For just Z owners it might be different. I never did any work on my vehicles before purchasing the Z, but now I do it all. I even dropped the transmission in my garage with a little help.

One thing I've found that seems to work pretty well is telling the shop that driving the car off the lot is strictly forbidden without first calling me to get authorization. I take a picture of the mileage before I drop it off, and I make sure they know I'm going to raise hell if something is amiss when I pick it up. Anyone can do this.

You can do the same thing with valet. Or just get a tune and switch over to valet mode (can't rev over 2500 RPMs or go faster than 35 mph).

My40thZ 08-11-2014 10:20 AM

Sorry if my story had gaps I've been really upset. Here is the full story from what I know to date. I've just returned from Afghanistan my car had been in a strange unit while I've been deployed. When I found time to search the internet I bought a factory GPS system from a forum member and bought a Armytrix exhaust from the retailor. All boxes were delivered prior to my returning home. I moved into my new house. I needed the room in the garage so I unpacked everything and put it in my daily driver and dropped my car off to have it installed. I also bought a cai for my car. I bought this car two years ago and since then have deployed and or have been in schools training. I have put 3000 miles on the car since I bough it. It has always sat in a garage with a car cover I washed it every weekend and kept it super clean. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/08/11/ygy7a5e9.jpg this is the car sitting In the storage unit. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/08/11/nuzy4uhu.jpg this is the car the day of the install. The foreman called said some parts for the exhaust were missing by they used my old gaskets and replaced them missing parts. He said he would call after everything was complete. When I was called I was super excited. 3 or 4 hours went by. Before I was called, the conversation went. Your car is ready but there is a problem. The car was crashed the damage was just to the rear end. How much damage just a dent on the rear end. They offered to fix my car fully. When I got there I saw a different story about how much damage there was. I spoke with the vp of the company who insisted on fixing my car. I told them no you totaled my precious car that was 1 of 1000. His was sunk when he realized this wasn't an every day Z. This one is more rare than all the nismos drivin around. The police report will be ready today. I will update what the police report says.
