Any regrets on 40th edition?

Looking into purchasing my first Z and I am torn between the 40th anniversary and the pearl white.

I would be dead-set on the 40th but navigation was not available (IMO the navigation adds a nice touch of luxury to the interior which I love; also backup camera on the 2011 models)

The pearl white I would be looking to get with the persimmon interior.

Anybody get tired of the quartz color?

-_- Such a tough decision...

mults 11-13-2013 06:28 AM

Either one you get will be a great ride.

I do miss the navigation on my 40th, but the color to me was what put the vehicle over the edge for me. After two years of owning the 40th, I am still awe struck whenever I see the color combination of the Quartz body, wheels and then the contrast of the red interior and brake calipers :yum:.

I am very particular about color combinations and how they make me "feel'. The 40th has never disappointed...

Good Luck with your decision!

Meulen 11-13-2013 07:09 AM

LOVE my 40th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I mounted an ipad in the cubby (you can see pics in my journal link below) I've had people tell me they'd wish they didn't get nav so they could do what I did. :)

nissan394 11-13-2013 08:56 AM

i would cry if someone put persimmon interior in a 40th would be the best of both worlds !!!! but deff go for the 40th over having white for the navi

Wiggins3377 11-13-2013 09:55 AM

mine may be far from stock at this point, but i love the 40th! The exterior color is so unique.

ka24king 11-13-2013 10:02 AM

To be honest you will want that cubby space. and the navi that comes stock in nissan vehicles even more so when it is not one of the newest models. It is very frustrating and not operable by the passenger while driving. Save the cash on all that crap and enjoy those red seats!!!!!!! :) i had the same options as you and except for the fact that white looks better with carbon fiber there i no reason i would trade my 40th no that i have it!!

equalme 11-13-2013 01:55 PM

Thanks for your opinions!

I do love the color combination of the 40th. Now I have to to find one to see in person first.

Also do the 40th have USB connection for iPod streaming?

If a US model, no USB. Canadian 40th that comes with Navigation should have USB port

dAvenue 11-13-2013 02:09 PM

the 40th is a sexy car. every time i see one, i ogle over the color scheme. you can always go with aftermarket navigation like Pioneer, Kenwood, etc. Not sure why that's ruffling your feathers :ugh:

ScotZ 11-13-2013 04:18 PM

Color Combination of Paint & Interior Plus the fact that only 1000 were made , Sold me!.
Having my car since August 2013, it has been a Great Ride.
Enjoy !

I am not planning on doing much modding so no go with aftermarket navigation. My initial choice was a IS350, but decided I wanted to go back to a coupe and manual. I was considering the g37s...but the interior console is just damn ugly IMO.

None the less, I decided to just pursue the 40th edition.

TerribleONE 11-13-2013 04:50 PM

If the colors do it for you.. i say go for it. I wanted a 40th for that red interior!

ltullos 11-13-2013 07:56 PM

If the 40th is in great shape, go for it. You'll also be much better to go with tablet instead of the nav package, and you can PM me to find out how to do it right!

Z-Girl 12 11-13-2013 08:09 PM

I understand you being torn, the color combo and wheels etc on the 40th are awesome, but the nav set up was a must for me.

karotZ 11-13-2013 10:35 PM

*puts flame suit on*

The 40th is great, the color, caliper, seats, stitching and the wheels sold me. Plus like everyone mentioned the fact that only 1000 were made, it makes it feel rare and limited, gives you an exclusivity feel on it.

But, for me during the ownership of a little bit over 3 years, the color kind of bored me and that's when the mod bug bit me. What did I do on mine? LOL I virtually violated everything that made it the 40th edition. Swapped out the body kit, changed wheels numerous times, sold the red seats :roflpuke2: , changed the steering wheel and more to mention ending up ricey lol. Now I'm undecided if I wanna sell it for a solid red sport touring or nismo or go with a nismo body kit this time on the 40th.

equalme 11-13-2013 10:45 PM

^^ Haha!

Do any of you all notice the purple hue often?

Yes, but it all depends on the lighting. It also shows up in photos, again, depending on the lighting...

I notice it all the time. So much so that I got rid of everything red in my car and switched the accent color to purple.

LOL...If I was going to do that I'd have bought a regular Z with Nav!!:stirthepot:

I'm really more of a vette guy, but my wife didn't like my vette. So when we got a new sport car I wanted it to be something we both really liked. The Z was the car! I'm like you and would mod EVERYTHING. But she keeps me in check. She loves the very essence of the 40th. So everytime I start tearing something apart I get a tap on the shoulder to make sure the 40ths characteristics aren't changed, or easily put back to original. So a lot of my mods will be stuff I can easily put back or functional, but non- noticeable, like my ipad mini magnetically mounted in the cubby mod.

Any problems with the red alcantara fading from sunlight and/or wear from elbow?

No not at all as a matter a fact alcantara is AMAZING!!!! there is a cleaning process that they have somwhere on here using woolllight i have do it before and no matter how bad it may be just rub at it for a little bit at it will loook the way it did when you drove it off the lot.

Meulen 11-14-2013 10:04 AM

Don't notice the purple....but I'm color blind. LOL

TheGreatOne 11-14-2013 10:52 AM

Loving my 40th...the purple hue in certain light is great.

If you ever see pics of Nitrouz's Z, his photo's capture it the best.

The Alcantara on the drivers door does get dirty from elbow/knee but if you clean it often, its great and doesn't seem to fade. I usually just use water but there is something with woolite as mentioned (or my detailer guy cleans it well for me)

I was going to say if you want the Nav try to find a Canadian 40th but we only got 120 so even more scarce :)

Also if staying stock for awhile I find the fact that the wheels are close to the 40th color lets you not feel rushed to buy aftermarket wheels like with some other colors.

equalme 11-14-2013 12:10 PM

Awesome. I do love the wheel design and color that comes with the 40th.

Just took home my 40th a few hours ago...I can't stop looking at her! Paid $12 for a one-way ticket on the Megabus from Houston to Austin and drove the beauty back!

The paint is just absolutely awesome. Looks 100x better in person.

I loved my 40th until a psychopathic maniac decided I should not own it anymore.

Beware of anyone selling my 40th -- Build number 244. I got hit hard by a pickup truck -- the estimate was $28,000 and the car was a total loss.

Here is why:

I do love the 40th paint color and seats. I think the wheels should've been the gunmetal Nismo ones; that would've been pretty sexy. In the end, I passed over it because the nav was a must have for me. I didn't like the way the interior looked with the cubby. If the US 40th had nav, I would've been sold.

Yeah I really wished it came with nav; makes the interior look much higher end.

I know that the 40th has hand free bluetooth, but was wondering if it supports bluetooth music streaming?

40th_z 11-16-2013 11:21 AM

Welcome! Excellent choice :yum::driving:

I believe only the nav models support bluetooth streaming. Down side of the nav is you loose the "aux" port.

Just echoing what others have said, love the color combo and the rareness. There is only one other 40th in the Memphis area, that I'm aware of.

As far as the navi goes, I already have two devices that will tell me where to go (3 if I count the ex-wife), adding another was not a big attraction for me. I'd rather have the cubby-hole for ma shades :)

moto_italia 12-07-2013 02:23 PM

Just turned 20,000 miles. Have done 5 oil changes, but have had no issues with the car. I bought one of these windshield sun shades ( Covercraft Car Sun Shades - 3260+ Reviews on Covercraft Custom Windshield Sun Shades - UV Shield, Heat Shield ) and use it all the time, since the car sits outside. And I got the darkest legal window tint. I'm not sure how susceptible the red seats are to fading, but I'm not taking any chances of having pink seats.

:icon17: it is not just nav, it is a touch screen, CD-DVD player with a 9GB hard drive and multiple different ports for plug ins. You could even plug in a playstation or xbox if you really wanted.

not to mention the main thing as many others have stated - interior looks much better

come to think of it…..only time I use it, is when I don't know where I am going :rofl2: what a thought/concept having the technology available when and where you need it :icon17:

MrGump 12-14-2013 12:09 AM

The picture of the crunched 40th made my heart drop. Love my 40th, huge fan of the red interior. Sometimes I wish I had NAV+video, sometimes I wish the exterior showed a little more contrast, the idea of getting a base model and modding the **** out of it sounds fun, but ....

My favorite thing about the 40th is that I'm done, it is great as it is. Other people are buying wheels, seats, wraps, etc, my car is a unique conversation piece as is...If it was AWD, I would never need another car.

Please don't post more crunched 40th's!!!
