Just just called NISSAN N.A., spoke with 2 people and they were very helpful and professional. They collected my information, Full Name, Address, Phone#, email, VIN, Mileage, New/Pre-Owned, and then... finally gave me the "Manufacturing Date" which is January of 18th, 2010.

Justin (ext. 458165) from Consumer Affairs will call me back in a few days for the Build Number. He even gave me a "Case Number" just in case I need to call NISSAN N.A. in the future for this case.

Can you get your build date in the states?

I think the 1000 units we are referring to was only for the states. The 120 was Canadian and then Europe had 370 40th anniversary units made(which were numbered and plaqued) so there alone that is 1490 40th AE units! Plus what ever they got in Asia and the middle east........

I also find the build date thing weird to. I think before I was reading other build dates that seemed wrong. I'll look into this more when intalk to the rep next.

I've been silently following the thread with great interest and have a running spreadsheet that I update with VINs and Build #s as they come available.

There are a few trends but one which I believe to be accurate is that for VIN #s from 1643 (build #10) to 1797 (build #164) the build numbers are sequential and these vehicles are all US. That is to say that VIN #1683 is build #50, VIN #1733 is build #100,... However, somewhere between Build #s 164 and 205 there are 5 vehicles which may have been for the Canadian market. From that point on there are Canadian VIN #s interdispersed throughout.

My VIN #1959, unfortunately I don't have the build #.

at least Nissan NA hasn't screwed up the numbering sequence yet like Nissan Canada has!

You should add your info to the other thread. We have a thread for Canadian build numbers.

This unexplainable "double wobble" in the 40th anniversary universe can only be explained as follows:

Shortly after build number 1733 rolled off the assembly line, someone in Japan learned that a previously unknown expanse of land just North of the U.S. was indeed inhabited by people. (total numbers unknown) Marketing demographics for Nissan North America determined (via Ouija board) that no more than one hundred and twenty of our brothers to the north "might" (like we neighbors to your south) be interested in dropping some serious cash on a "rare/considering land mass" performance vehicle.

To further complicate matters - before all this began (circa Oct 2009) Nissan North America was contacted by nameless agents - in an attempt to make extra side money off the then reported, but as yet unreleased - 40th Anniversary Edition Z. With its special paint, stealth-ed out wheels and blood red interior, these agents knew two things. Americans would love this Vampyre of the Highway, and that purposefully (and shamelessly) promoting this vehicle - as a 40th Anniversary vehicle - they could both insure that perceived rarity and make the vehicle even more interesting by depriving the owner of essential information.

However, Nissan was wholly unprepared for just how deeply we Americans would rue the lack of information and a factory produced build number/date plaque. Those nameless agents were however - well aware of the endless pursuit that owners would expend in search of this elusive information. The calls for information would be relentless - until every last owner learned the birthright of their personal vehicle - information now perceived as the final brush stroke that completed this awesome vehicle.

Those nameless agents you ask? Follow the money... Who stands to make the most as we duped owners continue to attempt to learn the birthdate of our shadowy drive way darlin?

Verizon....

Assuming the American (i.e. USA) build numbers provided by Nissan N.A. are correct and VINs are sequential, then non-USA 40THs or even non-40THs were built amongst the USA 40THs.

Build #3 VIN is 1629. Build #971 VIN is 2721.

The difference in build numbers is 968. The difference in VINs is 1092.

Therefore, they don't match up and 124 additional (i.e. non-USA 40THs) cars were built during this time.

I suspect these were 40THs for Canada and Mexico.

For sure there were 1,000 built for the US and 120 built for Canada and who knows how many for Mexico and who knows how many Quartz 40THs for Europe and the rest of the world.

Therefore, separate build numbers for USA and Canada, Mexico, Europe, etc.

The only way to get your build number is to call Nissan and ask.

Interesting that my VIN number is four lower than yours (BeemaaZ) but your build date is one day earlier than mine.

When Justin or Consumer Affairs call me with the Build Number, I will re-confirm the Manuf. Date and let you know.

Edit:
Build # 472

This may be related to the need for having Nav installed. Perhaps they pulled Canadian 40ths off the line & assigned them build dates AFTER Nav was installed (in your case one day later)

Try calling back and talking to someone else.
Eventually you will talk to someone who knows what your asking for.
It took some people multiple tries to get their number.

Your build number should be in the 900s, probably close to 950.

It's odd that they have given you two different build dates: 2 Feb and 12 Feb.

I believe the 12 Feb date is the correct one, based on your VIN and comparing it to other VINs/build dates.
