Nissan built some 40THs for other than the US while they were building the 1000 for the US, so the VINs don't quite match up to the build numbers.

I called Nissan Canada and Jennifer was very helpful, kudos to her. My info is:
VIN: (last 4 digits) 2804 Build Date: Feb 23, 2010 Build #: 110/120 Thanks for the advice would have never found this info without it. |
I also got no response from Staci, on multiple calls. Calling that number doesn't seem to be the way to go. I'll keep trying, reserve a door tag for me.

When djpathfinder came on the list I thought "YES! I just found my build # !" which would be # 430. Djpathfinder's vin is between moto_italia (2101) and mine (2161) and my vin is after djpathfinder (2156).

All 40ths (US & Canada) were made in Japan and the build#s should be based on the vin. But that's just my 2 cent. |

Good deduction, assuming that there are no other 40th produced between those VIN numbers. We know in Canada we got 120 of them and their "numbering" system is based on that. I don't think Canadians can obtain the build number /1000 through Nissan Canada.

Assuming the American (i.e. USA) build numbers provided by Nissan N.A. are correct and VINs are sequential, then non-USA 40THs or even non-40THs were built amongst the USA 40THs.
Build #3 VIN is 1629. Build #971 VIN is 2721. The difference in build numbers is 968. The difference in VINs is 1092. Therefore, they don't match up and 124 additional (i.e. non-USA 40THs) cars were built during this time. I suspect these were 40THs for Canada and Mexico. For sure there were 1,000 built for the US and 120 built for Canada and who knows how many for Mexico and who knows how many Quartz 40THs for Europe and the rest of the world. Therefore, separate build numbers for USA and Canada, Mexico, Europe, etc. The only way to get your build number is to call Nissan and ask. |
Just just called NISSAN N.A., spoke with 2 people and they were very helpful and professional. They collected my information, Full Name, Address, Phone#, email, VIN, Mileage, New/Pre-Owned, and then... finally gave me the "Manufacturing Date" which is January of 18th, 2010.
Justin (ext. 458165) from Consumer Affairs will call me back in a few days for the Build Number. He even gave me a "Case Number" just in case I need to call NISSAN N.A. in the future for this case. :ughdance: Quote:

You never know what they mean by build date... the build date might just be when they were added to the inventory system which may have some sort of viariations...
Pure speculation but lets say one car is assigned a vin and is built up but for some reason they hold off on completion (say a quality control issue or part shortage), maybe that build "date" is put off until it is fully completed. |
