Quick update: I'm pretty disappointed...as soon as I got offered this deal I gave the dealer the deposit and it all depended on if I could get a loan approved from PenFed in time.

The deal was, I was going on vacation for two weeks and needed to get approved in 72 hours (before I left). PenFed said no problem! Well, as my luck would have it, PenFed lowered their used car rates and had a major influx of credit apps. They said I would get approved, but it was a matter of time...and it was too late so I had to pull my app. The dealer refunded my money and said he hoped it would be available when I returned. I got an e-mail from him saying he sold it for more than what he offered me and he couldn't get another one!

Anyway, I am disappointed, but still on the hunt for a Z...back to square one!

You are correct -- VIN does the trick. Don't forget to ask for the build date also.

I am trying it again...I think I'll be picking up a used 40th Z with 3,100 miles for $33k...I should find out if I am going to get it in a few days (fingers crossed)!!! It has been a long time coming!!!
