Updated list!

Regarding the Vin # / build number... I called Nissan Northeast and was on the phone with them for a 1/2 hour trying to find out the build number to my car within days of the purchase. No Joy... This is a huge faux paux on Nissan's part... Not having a cross reference between vin # and build number. I think we should complain in mass to NISSAN Customer Relations until we get the answer. DP

I agree. I emailed them asking if there really were 1000 made for North America and also asked for a VIN specific production number. The replied the next day and told me yes there were only 1000 made and that they would get back with me on the other question. I submitted another email a week ago asking the second question again and I haven't heard back from them.

A question for you chaps in Europe - do you have a numbered plaque? My man at Nissan GB didnt know if they are being numbered in Europe with a plaque.

He did tell me that my Quartz 40th is the lowest numbered in the UK, all others are black ones. I consider that the first "real" customer 40th in the UK as black doesnt count!

I emailed them a week ago about the VIN too. No response yet. I'm still waiting on my extended warranty refund that I cancelled over 3 months ago.

Quick to up-sell - Slow to service... That's NISSAN customer service.... I knew before I ever left the dealership that it was going to be difficult to get the build number... I asked 3 different people there and they acted like I was from another planet for even asking... Like - why do you want to know that dude? I mean how many 40th anniversary ANYTHINGS have there been since the beginning of time? EVERY Corvette owner wants to know their build number... This isn't new and its too bad that NISSAN turned what should have been a simple 1000 unit tracking process in Brain Surgery. Dang - it doesn't (or shouldn't) take a rocket scientist to recognize that "Hey, owners (enthusiasts) will purchase these cars wanting to know 'Everything possible' about their car... They'll be hungry for it!!!

BTW, Forgot to mention - I created a group page for the 40th... Am hoping to transfer the list of owners on this thread over to it as the first post... But so far, it is complaining about the length of the file and denying. I don't want to have to cut it in 1/2 but that may be the case.
