I can't speak for everyone but no, I don't enter contests if I have no desire to win what is being offered. I also don't know that the OP did that but if he did them double-shame on him. I think most of us here can understand that situations change...that he may have entered the contest with the best of intentions and as desirous of the NISMO ans any of us here would be and that maybe after some thought and talking with his wife they decided that keeping the car wasn't the smart thing for him/his family to do. IF that's what happened and if had he actually presented himself and the situation that way I suspect most people would have been much more forgiving. However, that isn't what he did. If you look at his very first post, it's pretty obvious that he joined 370Z.com only to announce to us all that he won the car...talked about how happy and excited he as to have won and would be in Nashville at ZCON to pick it up...so far so good but then within the span of few days, claimed his wife wouldn't let him keep it because it wasn't a family car and made vague references to need the money for business, etc., etc. Now just think for a minute...what kind of people generally frequent a site like this? I don't know the actual demographics but I'd be willing to bet real money that most of the folks here are younger males (early to maybe late 20s), many of which probably aren't married, who generally aren't the kind of guys who feel that a wife, if they have one, should have that much control in a marriage that she just gets to decide what kind of car the husband can or can't have (remember, there was no presentation that this had been a mutually, rationally discussed issue and decision) and even if they did think the wife should have that much control wouldn't be stupid enough to say so in a forum dripping with testosterone. This IS, after all, a forum for 370Z aficionados - I'm sure I'm not the only one who wonders why he even came back to the forum once it was decided that the car had to go...what kind of reception did this guy really expect? And what gives him the right to get snooty because we don't jump on his offer to sell his free NISMO? Let's also not forget that he didn't even follow the posting rules to post his car for sale (not to mention the wholly unreasonable price he is asking once he gout around to actually stating a price). It seems the only reason he is even here now is because he apparently thinks that "Z" guys are going to pay his unreasonable asking price for his NISMO...if he wants (or his wife demands) that he unload the car then he needs to put the car on eBay or sell it to a dealer and be happy with his windfall...not berate us because we aren't falling all over ourselves to buy his car. Bottom line is, he could have avoided ALL OF THE anger and angst had he just approached the forum differently. |

I can’t speak for anyone else here but many, many people here (like the 300 or so I’ve help buy a 370 or other new Nissan) and in the larger Z community know who I am and if anyone else wants to know, all they have to do is ask. I also wonder; if you two dislike the anonymity of the internet that much perhaps; are you going to let everyone know who you are??? I am not bashful about speaking my mind or letting people know who is doing the speaking just as I was with my criticism of certain deficiencies at ZCON 2010. |

Robert Nash is the one guy who just happens to appear at just the right time and with his posts confuses idiots with his well put together thoughts and repeats everything everyone else alreardy said except without all the B.S. and gets everyone to chill. +1

The OP could have approached this much differently, but I think that too many people got their feelings hurt because they weren't the winners. I doubt there was any way he could have salvaged his comments after saying that he won it and will sell it. As for the anonymity comment. Robert, why would you, OF ALL PEOPLE, take offense to that? You are one of the few who don't do that. I applaud you for having your name on here and have heard good things about you (I'm in the vicinity). But I do stick by my comment. People hide behind screen names and say things without any care for how it sounds BECAUSE they don't have to face that person. It's childish to say that you f@#$ing hate a guy (though I'm sure the comment was more playful than true) because he won. You asked if I'd put my real name up here. No, but I don't say things here that I wouldn't say if I were standing before someone either. Now, if anybody would like to IM me, I'd be happy to talk on the phone or in person, but I'm not going me to volunteer that information for the world. Having said all of that, I will apologize for calling people names and saying that people were being childish. It just frustrates me to see people call the guy a liar and demand proof for something they aren't really interested in buying. His story won't help him get a dime more from the people on this site. In fact, I would bet that there are potential buyers who looked at the story and walked away immediately. If the OP was selling wheels or stereos, I could understand the need for proof. But, in the day of CARFAX, there is no way that he could get past the loan stage on a stolen car. Maybe I'm naive, but I just didn't see the need to harass the guy for his story. The price-yes. But the story-cut him some slack. Lastly, the OP didn't really demonize his wife. He merely stated that she said no. I've been married longer than some here have been alive and I can tell you that the secret to a lasting marriage is compromise. My wife has a say in my car affliction, just as I have a say in her shoe dependancy. If someone doesn't understand that, then they don't understand what a healthy relationship requires. Nobody here knows the full story of the OP's home life. Maybe they're dead broke and $500 more means the difference between getting a reliable van for his wife to cart their six sickly children to school. Maybe he volunteers all his time to shuttle the poor and destitute to the homeless shelters and just can't do that in a Z. Maybe he's just a schmuck that wants too much for a free car. Nobody truly knows and, unless you're a potential buyer, there's no reason to do anything but congratulate him and move on. In all honesty, I don't think the OP has any true idea of what the Z is worth. I believe that he looked at the MSRP and looked up the value on the net and then posted what he thought he could get out of it. If that is the truth, then the OP would be best suited to just say that and then ask what everybody here thinks he should ask. If he does that, I would say that the most mature thing for people to do would be to give him a true, no BS, answer that doesn't take into consideration what he paid/didn't pay for it and only considers what a 2010 fully-loaded 370Z Nismo with xxx miles is worth. I hope that this drama ends soon. I hate having a webfight that I can't turn away from. I, again, apologize for calling everybody childish, but this is somewhat ridiculous treatment and I'm sure it doesn't make the OP want to keep his beautiful car. Love,:hello: Mike |
The problem here which you seem to be missing is this guy acts like he won the car from ZCON but in reality the CAR WAS STILL THERE. We don't believe the guy won it, and is pulling our chain since he can't provide any proof.

You may be right and I may be crazy. But I don't see what it would do for him to lie. Maybe I'm just being naive about the whole thing, I just can't see his motive here. If he is lying, I'll be the first to canvas Florida looking for him. I just can't see the motive.
I've been wrong before and I know I'll be wrong again. OP, here's your chance. Step in and explain. And, on that note, can any of you tell the OP what range he should be expecting? I've heard a lot of talk that he's being ridiculous, but anybody have any true advice for him? |
so why couldn't nissan have a different nismo Z on display at Zcon than the one he won? Maybe they intended to give away the one in the lobby, but since he couldn't go, they shipped him an alternate one once it came in the port.
just sayin. |

Again, I think most of the problems with this whole mess is of the OP's making. Yeah; some people probably overreacted a bit and may have been unnecessarily harsh but I think they can be forgiven a bit since they were only reacting to how the OP has presented himself and his situation. As for the price question, I'm not an expect but I would say that in a private party situation; he'll likely be looking at somewhere between $30-$34K; from a dealer/selling it at the car's wholesale price, considerably less...probably in the range of $25-$28K...those are just somewhat educated guesses of course but I think they are likely in the ball-park. |

Ultimately it doesn't really matter very much unless the NISMO on display was the actual vehicle given away because if that was the case, the OP's explanation doesn't make sense because the timing doesn't work. |
I agree with both of you and would really love to hear the whole story. I think that the truth will probably be just a small misunderstanding/misquote and that the whole thing could have been handled better. Thanks for putting a range to it, maybe the OP will take a look at that and adjust as necessary.
Mike |
exactly, shouldn't discount that he won it just because there was a nismo at the convention.
|
I am in contact with a few that ran ZCON2010. I will let you know what they say about the situation at hand.
|
I asked about the car at the show and was told it was shipped to him, very disappointed as that should have been the highlight of the awards banquet (aside from the Mr. K video conference). Not to mention that it states in the rules of the contest that you must be able to attend the event and pick the car up at the awards banquet of the convention. If I could appeal I would since they made the rules and they broke them. Whoever they are is just a sweepstakes promotion company that could care less.
The one in the hotel was just a display model for sure. I have no reason to believe this guy is not legit I just hope he knows what he has and doesnt just give it away to some dummy thats gonna throw it away like he is doing. If you would like to make $xxxxx cash and see the car go to good use please contact me. If not continue to be greedy and I hope your wife is worth it. I know its just a car but it cost you nearly nothing so the size of your family should not dictate if you keep it or not. I have a wife and 3 kids and if I were to win a car like that I would keep it. |

Amazing how attached one can get to all that stuff when I consider that my 1973 Formula 400 Firebird (my first new and purchased brand new) didn't even have AC or power anything for that matter (yet I'd sell my left arm if I could find one like it today in decent shape and for a fair price)! |

I too have no reason to doubt he has the car - I just hope he finds someone to take good care of it - have we even found out which # Nismo it is for 2010? |

Of course I would make her park outside but better yet I would give up my parking spot in the garage so my wife and my nismo Z would be warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
|
OP: Where in Florida are you located? I would like to come see it this weekend and make an offer.
|
Here is what ZCOn2010 CHAIR said. And let's just say they weren't happy about it but I removed the other info from the email to post what was needed here.
---- No - Nissan changed directions on that a month prior to the event. They pulled the winner (a guy somewhere in FL that couldn't make/attend convention) and decided not to do anything at ZCON. |

I can understand Chris'/ZCCA's disappointment...giving away the NISMO during that tediously long almost "no awards" awards banquet would have been a nice touch. Then again, I did, at least get the personalized No 1 "Z to Shining Z" poster in the auction so it wasn't all bad. :) |
Yeah I got the red dot on the bottom of my chair so I won a 370Z too!! I'm not sellin it tho, My wife said I could keep it

Just because your wife would not let you keep a sports car (can you say pussy-whipped?), no need to get all huffy. $10 says he had to buy a minivan, ROFL! |
It's like the girl on MTV that beats her husband.
