Default Spun bearing – help

Does anyone have experience with a spun bearing on the z?

How much does it cost to rebuild? Is it cheaper to rebuild going to a machine shop, or buying a short block (I see stage 1’s for ~$2800 online).

If I buy a short block, is it as simple as throwing the head back on and call it a day or does the head need to be inspected by the machine shop as well?

Anything else to look out for?

I just want to keep the costs as low as possible, which means I’m keeping it N/A and looking to maintain long-term reliability.
