just a quick note- this kind of consumption is considered "OK" by Nissan when compared with their oil consumption chart. I would also consider it very common for the VQ37 (and even the 35) to use 1-1.5 quarts every 5k miles.
in other words, no cause for alarm- just make sure you keep it within the indicated acceptable range on the dipstick.
