In order to remove the solid foam bar that is under the rear strut bar, you have to remove almost all of the interior in the trunk. I just did the NISMO rear brace installation on our shop 370Z and I was forced to pull it in order to prevent me breaking the foam.
Its not hard at all to remove. The interior is a piece of cake to remove. The center panel towards the rear of the car is the hardest piece to take out. Everything else is held in with pop clips.
