yeah, and it was more that I thought it would detect the signal from the receiver than forgetting to connect it the reverse wire on the stereo. But because the camera receiver behind the radio is always on it caused the stereo to think that it had a signal when it did not. It will work without the stereo's reverse wire being connected but you need something to turn the wireless camera receiver on.

So my conclusion to this is that you're better off getting a wired camera instead of the wireless since I ended up running a wire from the reverse light all the way to the stereo to turn on the wireless camera receiver and save yourself $15
