Yeah I wouldn't try it
I used Plasti-dip for the grill/fang area of my bumper, but I also sanded off most of the original paint first, and I don't care much about cosmetics, I just figured it would look kinda cool and be easy to repair from rock/tirechunk hits with respraying the plastidip.
