You'll be fine mixing tire types as long as they are the same general category (max performance with max performance). I wouldn't put all weather tires on one axle and summers on the other though.

For example, when my front RE-11s wear out, I may replace them with RS-3s until the rears are dead. A new front tire of similar class will always be better than a bald, old tire.
