Default 18x8, 18x9 wheels good enough for track/drifting?

I have 18" winter wheels that I'm contemplating using for drifting and tracking instead of the 19" Rays for sake of saving money on tire expenses.
They are 18x8, and 18x9. I've googled the widest tires for these and the general consensus seems to be 245/35 and 265/35. Is that good enough or too thin?
I have 20mm/25mm spacers if that helps
