Bad 1st impression with Z1 Motorsports
I sent Dustin a PM to see if they would match the Z store's price on K&N filters for my Z.

I understand your frustration, but they are a forum sponsor and they seem to be a reptutable place, and its really not fair to make negative posts about them over $15. If you really wanted to get the price match, you should have just asked them to have dustin call you back. Now they're not going to help you, nor should they, after you bash them over $15. again, i understand your frustration, but sometimes there are miscommunications, but lets get real here, its not like you're dealing with a TT install, and they are charging you 10k instead of 7k, its $15 difference on an air filter.

Did you talk to Dustin on the phone? That might help when asking for forum deals... Their sales/parts manager may not be 100% full up on all the specials they run on all they forums they are a sponsor of. Have heard nothing but good things about Z1. You might want to reconsider, and instead post an apology thread after receiving your filters at the normal price... :ugh2: |
I go out to Z1 at least once every 2 weeks to either get things done on my car or just hang out. I have to say that all of the guys at the shop are stand guys, including the owner. I would suggest that if Dustin is the one you spoke to, to wait for him to respond. You have it in writing that they will match the price so there's no reason for Z1 not too. Definitely not over $15.
I know for a fact that Z1 has done work for many customers without charging them, so it's about customer relationships and service for them than it is about the bottomline. They know that happy customers will keep coming back and bring friends with them. I will speak to John at Z1 and make sure that Dustin contacts you soon. |

I appologize for the confusion. I am not entirely sure who you spoke with, but we have over 20 employees here (all of which answer phones). I went directly to the owner [over the parts/sales manager] regarding the price match on these filters and did get it approved. Since I was working with you directly on this special case, there were only 1 or 2 people who knew about the inquiry. I would be more than happy to honor the price on these filters. Dustin is great! I sent him a PM over the weekend and BAM this morning I had it back...
I would have tried to PM him back before I started this up... I also understand there side of it... I might call them up today and say Dustin wanted to give me a free Big brake kit:stirthepot: What do you think Dustin??? |

An unnecessary public vendor burn on a menial matter that should have been handled between the OP and the vendor. We have so little vendors for the 370Z out there available to 370Z owners that it is troubling to read this.

It's easy for everyone to sit and judge how they would have reacted...but I feel like everything I did was inline with what most of you would have done. I asked for Dustin first...not there, so I asked if the person I spoke with was able to do price matches...the person had knowledge of my specific price match in question and chose to spoke as an authoritative source for Z1. The person said Z1 was unable to match that and not sure why Dustin told me they could.
With that being said, the title of the post was "bad 1st impression...". It wasn't don't ever buy from Z1 Motorsports. I'm sure I will place an order with them along the way. They have a lot of inventory and shipping would be speedy to my location. I will take responsibility for not giving Dustin a chance to rectify the situation before I made my post. In the same token, the parts manager could have alleviated my post by transferring me to Dustin when I first asked for him. If not at first request, at the least after I told him Dustin sent me a message stating they could match the price. Dustin - I do appreciate your willingess to honor the match. Unfortunately, I placed the order elsewhere earlier in the day. John |
