I agree, but what choice does he has. He has no second set of wheels, and for him to get rid of the first set he would have to spend more money to have them fixed right. I would say give them one attempt to fix the problem, and if it doesn't work out the second go around then part ways or seek professional help. In all fairness to Forgestar this will be there first attempt to fix the problem right. I understand that he has waited a long time, but that wasn't really a big issue, now the wheels showing up with flaws and wrong finishes, now there is a major problem. I say give it a shot and see if they can fix it!

Umm, that really sucks, but at least now we all know not to order from forgestar... I would like to add that this has surely put DDM in a tough spot, but I dont think DDM's reputation should suffer for someone else's failure. Mike was trying to get us all an awesome deal and is a real stand up guy with a stand up shop.

CrownR426 10-10-2009 11:43 PM

I once heard that what you pay for is what you get.
Guess it works for Forgestars.

Mike is awesome not DDM's fault,
Blame it on the Forgestar.

I know forgestar reads this thread because of the comments they made to caravan about removing the post, so I would just like to say I think you're cowards for not coming on here to explain your poor pathetic actions.

:iagree: completely.

Mike has done everything he could for my situation to make sure I was happy. I can't imagine how many hours he spent working with forgestar and myself, and I'm sure for very little profit on his end.

Zerafian 10-11-2009 04:04 PM

Glad to see your getting what you want..even though its going to take upwards of 6 months.

370zdub 10-13-2009 04:02 PM

Well I was another one who WAS going to place an order for F14's, looks like it will be Volk's for me too. Too bad, it really is a shame they are a great looking wheel, too bad they can't be made by a reputable company.

carfr3ak 10-13-2009 04:40 PM

Guarantee you that you'd still be in the same situation if it wasn't for this thread. Shame on Forgestar. I despise companies who treat their customers like such because they get so much business, they don't care if a few people get shafted. Until the people who got screwed get real vocal.

Im glad you made this thread, it should be stickied to showcase what happens to a companies reputation when you treat the customers poorly, and when they tell everyone what happened on a popular car forum, you will get some satisfactory results.

I can't seem to find the original thread for the Forgestar 18" group order through DDM. Seems to have been deleted, kinda wondering why. Anyways, I'll post my update here.

I finally got my wheels from the group order today via UPS. They never returned my calls (I called twice recently) or sent a tracking number or anything, the wheels just magically appeared. They appear to be the correct color (flat black), but also appear to be the wrong sizes. I had originally asked for 18x10 + 18x11, and then switched my order to 18x9.5 + 18x10 (this was months and months ago, confirmed in email, well before they ever started manufacturing).

Looks like I ended up with the original, larger sizes (18x10 + 18x11). If only they had returned my calls like a reasonable business, we might have confirmed this stuff before they shipped them, or even made them :P

I haven't done a detailed inspection for any defects yet as the garage is kinda cramped and I'd rather leave them in their protective packaging for the moment.

At this point, considering the general horrors everyone has had doing business with these guys, I think my best shot might be to just go back to my original tire plans and use these wider widths they sent me. I wouldn't want to spend months again waiting to see if the correct ones ever show up. These will work, and I was on the fence about the choice of size anyways.

I *hope* they got the offsets right to fit these widths with the "normal" tire sizes and not rub anything on the stock Z (285/30 front + 315/30 rear). I probably won't purchase and install the tires for about another month (Holiday crap and then moving across town right after that is taking up my time and energy). We'll see what happens at that point.

FuszNissan 12-21-2009 03:23 PM

DDM did go out of business that may be why it was deleted. Maybe AK or Mike can shed some light.

Man, talk about a fiasco - I was all ready to buy some of these as track wheels at one point, but considering what happened to everyone else....craziness...

genki370z 12-24-2009 02:11 PM

man you had a couple rough months there, that suuuuuuuuuuux!!! but in the end you kept your composure and you eventually got what you wanted!!! congrats!! i know if i would have waited that long...that would have been someones a**!!! lol :tiphat:

boosted180 12-27-2009 12:39 PM

thanks for posting your experiences. i was so close to ordering their wheels. i think the only way for forgestar to repair their reputation (if they want to) and to have people feel secure about ordering from them in the future is to allow people to pay AFTER they receive their orders (on time) and are comletely satisfied. i would definitely buy their wheels if they allowed that.

but for now, i guess i have to look for something else. can someone recommend other wheels on the market comparable to these in price, weight, quality, etc.?

SeeyaBud86 12-30-2009 09:33 PM

I don't even know where to begin man. I would have sued the sh** out of them, I have to hand it to you, you kept your cool. While reading I could not believe the BS you had to put up with. Reminded me of my last car, Audi S4, I had a bunch of random little problems like what happened to you.

Just to make you feel a little better-
First day fan broke, ran all night, wasted battery. Brake rotors all replaced 3 times. One had to be replaced another time because Audi put it on wrong. 2 Cracked pistons (no explanation as to why). The previous battery that was replaced malfuntioned and turned out to be a bad one. Transmission malfunctioned (It was an automatic...) they told me this happened in less than 1% of Audis. A/C stopped working properly and had to be checked and replaced twice.

I know how it feels when nothing "works." Luckily with my 370 I haven't had any problems (knock on wood). By the way, car looks great I have a PW Z as well =P

Okay, so I don't understand why people are being so offensive about this ordeal. So iForged ****** up on their first order... and took them 6 months to get things right, but so what? Every company makes mistakes, and they are in business for making money, not offering charity funds. OP, you basically got what you wanted in the end (changed color and canceled pin striping), and you're still complaining? I mean, what if you got the perfect set with gloss black and white gettho pin striping in the first place? Would you have been happy with that? Hell no. On top of that, iForged could have just refused to sell the second set to you at discounted price and take those back from you although it could be disadvantageous to them. You got an extra set of wheels at a discounted price AND changed color AGAIN on your own to keep them. Finally, you're selling the flat black one that you originally ordered because they don't look good anymore?

And what's with all the bandwagon jumpers here? Suing them? Are you ******* kidding? Who the **** are you talk about suing? Are you the victim here? Man... I just don't get people these days.

To conclude, I'm sorry OP that you were hassled for a long time for this whole ordeal, but I hope you should be happy with the results since you have changed color decision total of THREE times, and got your second set for dirt cheap. For rest of the people who's bad mouthing a company who at least tried to step up to resolve the issue, you all should take a hand full of chill pills and grow up.

Sorry for waking up the dead thread. lmao

Not iForged, Forgestar.

Although, I had problems just as bad with iforged back in the day with my 350Z.

Sorry for waking up the dead thread. lmao

Did you read how many times they fed me bullshit? Did you notice that after ALL of the hassle I got, the guy that runs everything told me he'd personally inspect the wheels before shipping then they came in not even matching?

Yes, they made it right in the end, and I did edit post #2 to say that, but it took me complaining for weeks on end to even get them to replace the first set. They originally wanted me to send the wheels back at MY expense and just give me a refund. THEY suggested to go to an 11" wide wheel in back for the second set, and the reason I didn't get the pinstripe was because the first set was chipping in the first week of having the wheels on.

Right, so I bought the original wheels at a discount. I had to refinish them to sell them and didn't make anything off of it. I just got the opportunity to try a bronze color vs the matte black to see which I liked better and sold the ones I didn't like as much with my car. I saved them the hassle of paying shipping back to them and refinishing and selling them used.

Now, after all of this, why would you expect me to recommend the company? Because after 6 months I finally got wheels that I like after I was originally quoted 2-3 weeks? What if you were having a room remodeled in your house and the contractor quoted you 2-3 weeks. He finally finishes after 6 months with all sorts of BS and things done wrong in the middle, but he finished it right in the end. Would you recommend him?
