Need help with lugs
Ok guys ,
haven't found anything at a local wheel place or on line. The only option I was giving was extened wheel studs. But wont this effect me when I go back to the stock wheels for the winter? I have Rennan C10 Blue lable wheels Front 20X8.5 +24 and Rear 20X10.5+45. problem is every few hundred miles my lugs are loose( only like 4 threads holding them on!) Is there a solution as far as lugs I can use? Any thoughts much appreciated. Thank you BTW lugs I'm using are Muteki 32905N SR Series Neon Chrome 12mm x 1.25mm SR48 Open End Lug Nut Set, (Set of 20)

also make sure your wheel/lug taper area, and stud threads are free from any oils, anti-seize, sealants/wax. i suggest you spray it down with rubbing alcohol,rc car motor spray, rc car nitro cleaner, any degreaser. |

i use 85ft/lbs (snap-on torque wrench). 80ft/lbs can require MANY retorque unless you use the washer-type lugs. GL you can get click-type torque wrenches pretty cheap... like $20-25 at tirerack. also check harbor freight. just compare the torque with a known accurate torque wrench to make sure accuracy. |

4 threads seem a bit bare IMO. However that shouldn't be the reason your lugs are coming loose. If take them off and brush off the coating on the lugs (they should be flaking after your first torque) that are in contact with the rim so you have a clean contact patch. That should help give you the most locking friction. But I would still look into longer studs because 4 thread engagements are worrisome.

I'm going to go by my auto store and pick up another tork stick 85 LBS. and see if that does it . Driving out to PA this weekend for a wedding and don't want to have to check them when I get there and get home.

You can put 50mm studs (~10-7mm extended over stock). These will work with your aftermarket wheels giving you more thread engagement on your aftermarket wheels/lugs. You will also be able to refit your OEM wheels and OEM lug nuts with no clearance problems. Z1 sells them as do many other companies. I went with Z1.
All about wheel studs and nuts
