if you don't track the car I'd save they money and go for the S04. I cringe at the fact that I run RE-11 as a mixed DD and track tire. waste of good sticky tread :p
|
I second (and third) the notion of not mixing tires.. I put S04s on the rear with my stock 050s on the front and it tended to make my traction control go haywire in normal cornering conditions so I just swapped S04s onto the front to get rid of the weirdness and complete the set. That being said, the S04s have been great as a DD tire so far.

RE050A's have kind of a brittle feeling sidewall like an over inflated tire vs the S04. is that wat you're talking about? anyway i would check psi...and are you running 265/305 on those narrow stock 19's? that's much too wide. you cant just wrap some wide tires expecting you will get improved performance. you're also running swift springs, spacer, etc. which can also mess with your VDC if your car is not setup correctly. try the S04 vs RE050A on a stock ride. |
btw, im not implying S04's are track tires. they arent. they are designed for street.

:iagree:You're absolutely right on too wide for the OEM Rays. And the other mods affecting VDC. I read a lot of good things here before I bought them. I didn't read anything about how much the bigger tire on OEM Rays affected handling. Live and learn, I can live with them for now. I know it's mostly over size tires now, but VDC never came on with same mods and 050's. Now it comes on very easy. I just turn it off most of the time. I really didn't think larger size tire would make that much difference, it does.LOL. The front isn't bad, but the rear is a lot softer. I plan to get wheels in the future that will accommodate 305's. Or going with 285's on the Rays if that time comes before wheels. All in all, if I had it to do over I wished I spent a few more bucks and got the RE-11's ...in 285 out back.

yah, 285's are plenty wide for the 19x10.

had both of these tires. pole positions were personally my favorite.
i have yoko advan neova AD08 R's 265/35R19 305/30R19 right now and I can tell you from experience of owning all of the tires mentioned from OP the neovas are far and away better all around. A little soft though, so prepare for some super fast premature tread wear if you track it. |
