Default Extended Studs and Spacer ?

Hey everyone,

I just bought 19x10.5 +22 wheels for the rear im getting 10mm spacers to push me out to +12. As far as i know i would need extended studs.
Since my spacers are coming with the wheels as a throw in im not getting a kit where the studs would come together so i have to get them seperate. My question is what size extended studs should i get, also can i run extended closed lugs on extended studs?

Thanks in advance for any info guys

I think you can get away with stock studs at 10 mm. But I am not 100% sure.

THanks for the reply, can anyone confirm or deny that?

This is kind off an answer:

from my experience, 5mm is the max i use on aftermarket wheels that are lug-centric with no problems. steel lugs only (muteki makes great steel lugs) and using 80-85ft/lbs.

ive read 10mm of thread is required which is usually 6-8 turns depending on the pitch of the thread. use this info at your own risk.

never use 5mm spacers on factory wheels since they are hubcentric. the spacer pushes the wheel outward off the hub.

my reply to another post does not apply to you. im talking 10mm of thread on the studs, not 10mm spacers on stock studs. there's no way in hell you can put 10mm spacers on stock studs and get away with it.

my example is more for someone looking to use 3mm, max 5mm spacers on stock studs.

You can get ARP extended studs which are about 25mm longer than stock. It depends on your wheels, as some wheels by design are thicker at the hub depending on the offset you order. Then add that to your spacer thickness. My rule of thumb as an engineer is 1.5D thread engagement with an absolute miniumum of 1D on critical bolted joints. That's 1.5 or 1.0 x Stud Diameter. Our studs are 12mm so that equates to 18mm or 12mm min.

So you think 25 studs should be good? Or could/should i go a little shorter?

+25mm studs should be more than adequate for your application. However, they may be too long to run short closed end lug nuts...you'd probably have to get some 40-50mm deep lugs nuts, which you want anyways for aftermarket wheels IMO. You'll have to test fit your setup and see where the stock studs get to, if they even reach at all. Besides the +25 ARP studs, I don't know what else is out there, or at least something reputable.

There is a good DIY on here for the installation of extended studs, ARP's in particular. I also did it recently if you have any questions. The rears are more of pain than fronts since you have to take the hubs off.

True test fit is probably best I have extended lugs currently so thats not a problem. What's the consensus on the spacer/extended lug that just attaches to the existing studs? Why.dont more people use them to avoid the install headache especially in the rear?

you can but i think you'll like 285/35/19's better on a 10.5" width rear wheel.

Ok thanks, on the front have 9.5 should I run 245/45 instead of 235/45?

And any insight on the spacers with built in lugs by circutnsports? Just seems easier takes the hard work out of the equation.
