Wheel locks
Hey guys I know this had been posted thousand times.
But my 13' Z with the Rays wheels did not come with wheel locks...I am wanting to know if anyone knows where I can get OEM wheel locks or if this picture below will fit my Rays wheels??? http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/02/24/azy4u2eh.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
I like those - never seen them before.
I cannot say for sure. While they do appear to have the acorn tapered style that is required for the OEM wheels, I'm not convinced the taper is large enough. If you can check the dimensions of them, there is an image somewhere on this forum with the stock lug nut dimensioned for comparison. You can get OEM wheel locks from some vendors (dealers) here on the forum or your local dealer. I purchased mine from a fellow forum member. |

Here's the dimensions Brand- Gorilla Style- Factory/OEM Nissan/Infinity Mag Seat Style Locks Seat- Finish- Chrome Material- Hardened Steel Thread Size- 12x1.25 Drive- 13/16" , 21mm Overall Length in Inches- 1.54 Overall Width in Inches- Shank Length in Inches- 0.55 Shank Width in Inches- 0.725 I would get OEM from vendors here but when I PM them they won't see their messages or takes too long to reply lol. I found these also. These look like it'll fit??? http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/02/24/upetuvem.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
That shank is not big enough... I'm not sure anything but OEM lugs and locks can be used on OEM wheels.

I see the watermark on the image appears to be an Infiniti dealership. I would guess that both Infiniti and Nissan have the same lug nuts, but I would want to double check for sure.

Ok. I'll message the seller and see. If all fails i may just order them online through Nissan. But thanks for your help! :D

they should work.
the taper on the tip is for when you need to use your donuts. most steelies can use either ball or tapered types from past experience. the lugs look pretty stupid though cause it looks super huge vs standard taper/ball lugs when used on steelies. :D hahaha but during a flat it's more about getting you home safely vs looks. |

Which wheel locks are you referring to? The gorilla ones or the OEM ones I posted pics of?? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
the aftermarket ones. when you get them compare the outer diameter with your factory lug. if they are the same should be no issue.
there's basically only 3 types of lugs for passenger cars: washer type (like our oem) hubcentric wheel lugs taper (acorn) ball |

Ok cool. Thanks guys for your help! :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
np, GL with your locks.

Are all the wheel locks and lugs the same for all 370z models??
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
shoud be the same. Im pretty sure the 2013 onward wheels are still using the washer type lugs.
check courtesyparts.com for info on the 2013-2014 wheels (or post a pict of your lug) |
I'll do that when I get home from work.

yah, you can just compare the lug part numbers online between 2009 and 2013.

Ok so I have ordered the OEM wheel locks and MAYBE get Gorilla wheel locks too. Now these look like they will fit?

If you think it'll stop someone from jacking your wheels, you're right, they'll just jack the whole car instead (but they aren't effective to begin with, lol) |

Well damn lol. Has anyone ever tried replacing the 5 lugs with OEM wheel locks? Lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

You don't want to run locks really. The lug itself isn't as strong. And go run 5, I'll still get the wheels off, LOL! For what it's worth. Nissan/McGard makes SEVEN different locks. SEVEN. I can buy the dealer's box of keys for $200 for almost every McGar used on Nissan's and Toyotas |

LMAO. What other locks could I use that will fit my Rays? It's weird that some newer Z's don't come with wheel locks. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/02/27/gahetu6a.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

ONLY OEM locks are "safe" you don't want to drag or track on them. IF someone wants to steal your wheels, NO lock on the market will stop them. Locks aren't standard, it's a dealer option. Want to pay $40-50, I'm confident your local dealer stocks them :tiphat: |

Oh I get what you're talking about. I was just seeing what other locks I may get. I know it will only slow the thieves down taking the wheels. I ordered a set of OEM wheel locks 2 days ago for $46 shipped. May possibly look into viper alarm with tilt sensor something like that to where it'll tell me if someone is lifting my car up or messing with it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
