Well now Andrew, there are situations that this becomes an issue. If the tire is dismounted from the wheel it should be easy to tell if the tire is repairable or not. If they pulled the nail out before they dismounted the tire then they are idiots. Generally if the nail goes in at higher then a 45 degree angle and which direction its facing (towards the sidewall or up and down the tread) depends too. Reason for concern at that point is that when you drill out and clean the hole, you will be drilling through MULTIPLE belts of course weakening the tire more then your average flat repair. Course, I work for Costco where we are extremely picky and secure :roflpuke2:

It turns out that it can't be patched. I ended up ordering the tire through the Nissan dealership who is matching the Tire Rack's price shipped and should do a good job mounting and balancing it. It sucks, but at least I won't have to worry about it.
